Bears are large omnivorous mammals found across the globe. They come in several varieties, including brown bears, black bears, giant pandas, red pandas, and polar bears. Bears have a strong sense of smell but weak vision. They eat plants and supplement their diet with small mammals, fish, insects, and honey. Bears live solitary lives and females care for their young cubs for over two years. Polar bears in particular are well-adapted to Arctic conditions with thick fur and fat layers that insulate them from the cold.

- 3. The brown bear or grizzly bear or common (Ursa the Bear-Ursus arctos) is an omnivorous mammal with the largest geographical spread, which can reach a mass of 170 to 300 pounds. Polar bears are very strong swimmers. Their large front paws, which they use to paddle, are slightly webbed. They are feeding mainly with fishes and seals. These Arctic giants are the masters of their environment and have no natural enemies.
