Start By:
a. Remove the auxiliary pump drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump Drive Group
- Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the
component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will prevent dirt from entering the internal
mechanism.

1. Remove alignment pins (1).
2. Remove bolts (2). Remove cover (3).
3. Remove O-ring seal (4) from cover (3).

4. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove shaft (4A) and the bearing.
5. Remove Tooling (A) from the shaft.
6. Remove bearing (5) and the bearing race from shaft (4A).

7. Remove gear (6) from the body.
8. Remove bearing (7) and the bearing race from the body.
9. Remove bolts (8). Remove cover (9).

10. Remove O-ring seal (10) from cover (9).
11. Use Tooling (B) in order to remove shaft (11) and the bearings from the body.

12. Remove bearing (12) from shaft (11).

Assembly Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned
in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts.
Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are
worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. All disassembly and all assembly procedures
must be performed on a clean work surface and in a clean hydraulic area. Keep cleaned parts
covered and protected at all times.
Note: O-rings, gaskets, and seals should always be replaced. A used O-ring may not have the
same sealing properties as a new O-ring. Use 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound during the
assembly procedure.
1. Lower the temperature of bearing (12).
2. Install bearing (12) in the body.

4. Install bearing (13) in cover (9).
5. Lower the temperature of shaft (11).
6. Install shaft (11) into bearing (12).

7. Install new O-ring seal (10) on cover (9).
8. Install cover (9). Install bolts (8).
10. Install bearing (7) in the body.

11. Position gear (6) in the body.
Note: Make sure that you align the gear and the shaft while you install the shaft.
12. Install shaft (4A) in the gear and in the bearing.
14. Install bearing (5) and the bearing race in the body.

15. Install new O-ring seal (4) on cover (3).
16. Install cover (3). Install bolts (2).
17. Install alignment pins (1).
End By:
a. Install the auxiliary pump drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump Drive Group -
Install".

23 kg (51 lb).
3. Install bolts (1).

INFORMATION IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED
SERVICEMAN.
Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Control Valve - Remove" in this manual.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.

Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on
Cat®
products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will
reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.
To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always
plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover
any disassembled components and clean them properly before
assembly.
Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component
exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any
contamination.
Note: A hydraulic oil sample should be obtained before any maintenance is performed in
order to establish the system contaminant level. Refer to Fluid Analysis Laboratory Guide,
SEBF3116, "Obtaining an Oil Sample for S·O·S Analysis". Refer to Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Sampling Interval and Location of Sampling Valve" for the correct
location.
1. Remove two hose assemblies (1) from the flow divider valve.
2. Remove sensor (4).

3. Remove two hose assemblies (5).
4. Attach a hoist and a lifting strap to the flow divider valve.
5. Remove seven bolts (2) that hold the flow divider valve onto the main control valve.
6. Remove flow divider valve (2). The weight of the flow divider valve is 64 kg (140 lb).

A. Remove the flow divider valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flow Divider Valve -
Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the
component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will prevent dirt from entering the internal
mechanism.
NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will

housing.

8. Remove bolts (12). Remove covers (13) from the valve housing. Remove cap (14) and
nipple (15) from the valve housing.
9. Remove O-ring seal (16) from the cover. Repeat for the other cover.
10. Remove O-ring seal (17) from the nipple.

11. Remove bolts (18). Remove solenoid (19) from the valve housing.
12. Remove O-ring seals (23), (22), (21), and (20) from the solenoid.
13. Remove plug (24) from the valve housing.
