Drive and Steering Axle (Rear) - Install

1. Install the sensor and bracket (28). Install 3 bolts (29) and the washers.

2. Install pin (26) and washer (27). Install clip (25) .
3. Install cover (23). Install 3 bolts (22) .
4. Install bracket (21) for the parking brake.

5. Use a suitable lifting device in order to move the axle.
Note: The axle weighs approximately 500 kg (1102 lb).
6. Use a hydraulic jack (19) in order to position the axle under the machine in the proper place.

7. Install 4 nuts (20), the washers, and the plate. Repeat for the other side.
8. Move the hydraulic jack away from the rear axle.
9. Connect the wire for the sensor for the rear steer.
Note: The wire is located in the area of the pointer.
10. Install 2 hydraulic hoses (13) on the top of the axle.

11. Install 2 hydraulic hoses (11) on rear steering cylinder (12) .
12. Install 2 bolts (16) and pin (17) in order to install parking brake assembly (18) .

13. Install 2 bolts (14) for bracket (15) for the manifold. Repeat for the other side of the bracket
for the manifold.
14. Install two brackets (3) for the front of the drive shaft. Install four bolts (4) for the rear of
the drive shaft.
End By: Install the rear tires and wheels. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Tires & Wheels (Rear)
- Remove and Install".

Start By:
A. Remove the rear tires and wheels. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Tires & Wheels (Rear)
- Remove and Install".
B. Remove the rear axle. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive and Steering Axle (Rear) -
Remove".

1. Secure axle (1) to tooling (A) .
2. Remove final drive drain plug (2). Drain the final drive into a suitable container (3) .
3. Loosen two socket head bolts (4) .

4. Separate planetary carrier (5) from hub (6) .
5. Use a suitable lifting device in order to remove planetary carrier (5) .
Note: The weight of the planetary carrier is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

6. Remove snap ring (19) .
7. Remove washers (17) and (18) .
8. Loosen two hex head screws (10). Remove lock plate (11) .

9. Use tooling (B) in order to remove slotted nut (12) .
10. Separate internal gear (13) from hub (14). Remove the bearing from the outside of hub
(14) .

11. Use tooling (C) in order to separate hub (14) from the housing for the steering knuckle .
Note: The weight of tooling (C) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).
12. Use tooling (D) in order to remove bearing (15) from the housing for the steering knuckle .

A 8B-7554 Bearing Cup Puller 1
Start By:
A. Remove the tires and wheels. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Tires & Wheels (Rear) -
Remove and Install".
B. Remove the rear axle. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive and Steering Axle (Rear) -
Remove".
C. Remove the final drive. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive (Drive and Steering
Axle) - Remove".

1. Remove snap ring (1) .
2. Use tooling (A) in order to remove planetary gear (2) .
3. Remove snap ring (3) and thrust washer (4) from the center of the planetary carrier.

4. Remove bearing (5), O-ring (6), and bearing race (7) from hub (8) .
5. Turn over the hub. Pry out seal ring (9). Remove bearing race (10) from the bore of the hub.

6. Remove two snap rings (11) from planetary gear. Remove two washers (12) and roller
bearing (13) .

Final Drive (Drive and Steering Axle)(Rear) - Assemble
SMCS - 4050-016-RE
Assembly Procedure
1. Install roller bearing (13), two washers (12), and two snap rings (11) .

2. Use a press in order to install the bearing race. Apply some 9S-3263 Thread Lock
Compound to the outer diameter of seal (9). Use a press in order to install seal (9) .
3. Use a press in order to install bearing race (7). Install O-ring (6) .

4. Install snap ring (3) and thrust washer (4) into the center of the planetary carrier.
5. Install the planetary gears. Secure the gears with snap ring (1) .

Final Drive (Drive and Steering Axle)(Rear) - Install
SMCS - 4050-012-RE
Installation Procedure
1. Install bearing (15) onto the housing for the steering knuckle.

2. Lubricate the seal in the bore of the hub. Install the hub onto the steering knuckle. Install the
outer hub bearing in order to secure the hub.
3. Install internal gear (13) .

4. Install slotted nut (12). Ensure that chamfered side of slotted nut (12) is facing outward.
5. Use tooling (A) in order to tighten slotted nut (12). Tighten the slotted nut to a rolling torque
of 46 N·m (34 lb ft).
Note: If the old bearings were reused, the rolling torque should be 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
