Accelerating open cloud innovation with Cloud Foundry
The Register: IBM pours WebSphere tech into Cloud Foundry cauldron
July 24, 2013 - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/07/24/ibm_pivotal_cloud_foundry/
“IBM is one of the few tech companies that has any experience adapting to massive technological transitions, and when Big Blue combines Cloud
Foundry with OpenStack… we think we can discern a strategy that will see IBM… develop products [for] the new wave of cloud technologies.”

PundIT Weekly Review: Cloud Foundry and the Rising Tide
Aug 13, 2013 - http://www.slideshare.net/emcacademics/cloud-foundry-and-the-rising-tide
“…momentum around Cloud Foundry continues to accelerate and grow. In just the past few weeks, two more major players have signed on
to support the technology and community—IBM and Savvis—both of which are important but in distinctly different ways…. both IBM and
Savvis are joining the newly-formed Cloud Foundry Advisory Committee with Pivotal which will collaborate on further development of the
platform and work to- wards establishing an open governance model. That is likely to help validate PaaS as a solution category for
enterprises and SPs to consider…. In other words, Cloud Foundry is anything but a one trick pony today and, over time, we expect it will
find ever wider applications and success.”

Fostering the Cloud Foundry community
Build a vibrant open source community to develop a platform for cloud
app development, deployment & scaling -- the next wave in the open
cloud
Apply IBM experience in supporting & validating open source
technologies & communities (Linux, Eclipse, Apache & more
recently OpenStack) & the development of cloud apps
Grow a community & ecosystem of ISVs built around a platform
for developing, deploying & scaling cloud-centric applications

In just the past few weeks, two more major players have signed on to support the technology and community—IBM and Savvis—both of which are important but in distinctly different ways…. both IBM and Savvis are joining the newly-formed Cloud Foundry Advisory Committee with Pivotal which will collaborate on further development of the platform and work to- wards establishing an open governance model. That is likely to help validate PaaS as a solution category for enterprises and SPs to consider…. In other words, Cloud Foundry is anything but a one trick pony today and, over time, we expect it will find ever wider applications and success.”
