This document provides an introduction to "The Clinician's Toolkit", which aims to provide clinicians with information and tools to review and improve the quality of their clinical practice. It discusses three key components of clinician action needed to improve patient care: 1) understanding human factors and minimizing human error, 2) using methods like incident monitoring and clinical indicators to identify problems, and 3) acting on the information to continuously improve care. The toolkit presents various review methods in section 2 and overview of a scientific improvement process in section 3 to help clinicians achieve these goals. Effective use requires collaboration between clinicians and managers through clinical governance.
