Cloud Computing
NEEDS
To reduce the IT operations and management
costs
Cloud model of software architecture
Different Cloud Service Models ?
 Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
 Platform as a service (PaaS)
 Software as a service (SaaS)

Cloud Computing
Amazon Web Services(AWS) :-
 Amazon Web Services (AWS), a collection of remote
computing services, also called web services, make up a cloud-
computing platform offered by Amazon.com.
 These services operate from 11 geographical regions across the
world.
 The most central and well-known of these services arguably
include Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud and Amazon S3.
 Amazon markets these products as a service to provide large
computing-capacity more quickly and more cheaply than a client
company building an actual physical server farm.
Microsoft Azure :
 Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform and infrastructure,
created by Microsoft, for building, deploying and managing
applications and services through a global network of Microsoft-
managed and Microsoft partner hosted datacenters.
 It provides both PaaS and IaaS services and supports many
different programming languages, tools and frameworks, including
both Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems.
 Azure was announced in October 2008 and released on 1 February
2010 as Windows Azure, before being renamed to Microsoft Azure on
25 March 2014.
AWS: Comparing the Basics
 In broad strokes, both Amazon and Microsoft organize AWS' and Azure's
respective features into similar groups.
 AWS' four core features consist of:
1. Compute
2. Storage & Content Delivery
3. Databases
4. Networking
--all operating under Amazon's extensive admin controls, which include
identity management, auditing, encryption key creation/control/storage,
monitoring and logging, and more.
 AWS also gives its customers powerful analytics (Amazon EMR is the
company's Hadoop framework, and Kinesis can do data stream processing
in real time) and tons of application services and deployment options.
AZURE: Comparing the Basics
 Azure essentially covers these bases, too, lumping them
into four general categories or functions:
1. Build infrastructure
2. Develop modern applications
3. Gain insights from data
4. Manage identity and access.
 Azure has its own Hadoop implementation, HD Insight, and
Apache Storm can do real-time stream processing. You can
get virtual machines (VMs) off the ground quickly and give
your devices what they need to build and deploy apps.
Storage and database options abound, as well.
TYPES OF CLOUD
Public Cloud
Private Cloud
Community Cloud
Hybrid Cloud
Combined Cloud
ISSUES RELATED TO CLOUD COMPUTING
 Cloud computing may create a dependence on the
provider (Google, Amazon) and may make it
difficult to move to another platform.
 Google itself admits that Google App Engine is
targeted at consumer applications, not
businesses.
 There’s always the risk that the Cloud provider
may change business models or even go out of
business.
PROS AND CONS :
ADVANTAGES:
 Software as a Subscription
 Reduced Software Maintenance
 Increased Reliability
 Environmentally Friendly
 Cost Reduction
 Portability/Accessibility
PROS AND CONS :
DISADVANTAGES:
 Bandwidth could bust your budget
 App performance could suffer
 Data might not be cloud-worthy
 Too big to scale
Conclusions
 Cloud Computing is the fastest growing part of IT
 Tremendous benefits to customers of all sizes
Cloud services are simpler to acquire and scale up or down
Public clouds work great for some but not all applications
Private clouds offer many benefits for internal applications
Public and private clouds can be used in
combination
