FOUR WEEK SUMMER TRAINING REPORT
ON
CLOUD COMPUTING
(From 16 June 2014 to 16 July 2014)
Name of the Organization: MICROSOFT
SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT FOR AWARD OF
DEGREE
OF
BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY
IN
COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING
BY
FARAZ AKHTAR
ROLL NO. C12008
1
The term refers to a Network or Internet. In other
words, we can say that Cloud is something, which is
present at remote location. Cloud can provide services
over network, i.e., on public networks or on private
networks, i.e., WAN, LAN or VPN. Applications such
as e-mail, web conferencing, customer relationship
management (CRM),all run in cloud.
2
Cloud Computing refers to
the applications online. It offers online
data storage, infrastructure and application.

DEPLOYMENT MODELS SERVICE MODELS
 Deployment models
define the type of access
to the cloud, i.e., how
the cloud is located?
Cloud can have any of
the four types of access:
Public, Private, Hybrid
 Service Models are the
reference models on
which the Cloud
Computing is based.
5
6
 The Public Cloud allows systems and services
to be easily accessible to the general public.
Public cloud may be less secure because of its
openness, e.g., e-mail.
7
8
 The Private Cloud allows systems and services
to be accessible within an organization. It offers
increased security because of its private nature.
9
10
 The Hybrid Cloud is mixture of public and
private cloud. However, the critical activities
are performed using private cloud while the
non-critical activities are performed using
public cloud.
11
12
1. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
2. Platform as a Service (PaaS)
3. Software as a Service (SaaS)
13
 IaaS provides access to fundamental resources
such as physical machines, virtual machines,
virtual storage etc.
e.g. Windows Azure, Rackspace, Google
Compute Engine.
14
 PaaS provides the runtime environment for
applications, development & deployment tools,
etc.
e,.g. Heroku, Force.com, Google App Engine,
Apache Stratos.
15
 SaaS model allows to use software applications
as a service to end users include OS,
programming language execution environment
e.g. Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365.
16
17
18
 ON DEMAND SELF-SERVICE
 BROAD NETWORK ACCESS
 RESOURCE POOLING
 RAPID ELASTICITY
 MEASURED SERVICE
19
20
 Hypervisor is a firmware or low-level program
that acts as a Virtual Machine Manager. It
allows to share the single physical instance of
cloud resources between several tenants.
21
 Management Software helps to maintain and
configure the infrastructure.
 e,.g flexiant, kaavo
22
 Deployment software helps to deploy and
integrate the application on the cloud.
23
 Network is the key component of cloud
infrastructure. It allows to connect cloud
services over the Internet. It is also possible to
deliver network as a utility over the Internet,
i.e., the consumer can customize the network
route and protocol
24
 Server helps to compute the resource sharing
and offer other services such as resource
allocation and deallocation, monitoring
resources, security, etc.
25
 Cloud uses distributed file system for storage
purpose. If one of the storage resource fails,
then it can be extracted from another one
which makes cloud computing more reliable.
26
 Virtualization is a technique, which allows to
share single physical instance of an application
or resource among multiple organizations or
tenants (customers). It does so by assigning a
logical name to a physical resource and
providing a pointer to that physical resource
when demanded.
27
Here are the three types of hardware
virtualization:
 1. Full Virtualization
 2. Emulation Virtualization
 3. Para virtualization
