This document outlines the competencies for installing and configuring computer systems. It includes 5 competencies: 1) assemble computer hardware, 2) prepare installer, 3) install operating system and device drivers, 4) install application software, and 5) conduct testing and documentation. The first competency involves assembling computer hardware safely by following procedures like disconnecting power and using anti-static wrist straps. Safety is emphasized as computer equipment can injure or kill if not handled properly. Basic computer hardware components are also defined. The goal is to foster a safe work environment when installing and configuring computer systems.
