meetings to assist with the development of Planning going forward.
Mission Statement
To provide a forum for strategic engagement
between the Nuclear Industry and Wales
based suppliers.
Objectives – Foster collaboration between Forum members
enabling joint enterprises to attract business
which might be lost to individual companies.
– Be an advocate for suppliers and give a direct
communication route between representatives
of the supply chain and customers.
– Ensure we connect up to all levels of the
supply chain.
– Collect and aggregate knowledge from Wales
Nuclear Forum members and to act as a conduit
for dissemination of useful information.
Objectives – Act as focus group, being a sounding board
and identifying improvement areas providing
an arena for supplier input.
– Monitor and measure success utilising
the WNF Website.
– Champion best practice among Wales Nuclear
Forum members and gather examples of such
practices for presentation to Forum members
– Identify areas where support is best applied
across the forum group.
– Promote the strength, diversity, professionalism
and depth of services offered by Wales Nuclear
Forum members to the nuclear industry.
– Already developed strong representation and recognition in the Nuclear Supply
Chain for “New Build” and “Decommissioning”.
– The WNF has now been established for just over two years.
– WNF Website launched at the NDA event in November 2017.
– Monitored and Advised by the Welsh Government.
– Meetings held with Government Senior Ministers gaining full support.
– Attended many Nuclear Events across the UK and Europe.
– Developed collaboration opportunities with European organisations.
– Ongoing industry collaboration with other Forums across the UK.

Progress
– Developed representation at the Nuclear Innovation Centre in Bridgwater HPC project.
– Assisted Welsh based businesses with the implementation of the F4N assessment.
– Promoted and developed WNF member networking through many events.
– Completed a collaborative business improvement program with Costain, ARUP and Acorn,
targeted for Welsh SME’s.
– Shared intelligence for new companies to entre into the Nuclear supply chain.
– Created opportunities for member companies to “Market” their business through the WNF website.
– Ongoing development and communication with all tier one companies and the SWMAS team to
ensure members are registered as a suitable supplier.
– Promotion of Welsh Member Companies with support
and guidance from Welsh Government at every level
of the Nuclear Industry supply chain.
– Improving collective communication, intelligence and
guidance, lead by the Steering Group but importantly by
all members of the Forum.
– Attending future Nuclear Events to show Wales Industry
has a major part to play in opportunities within the Nuclear
industry across the UK and Europe.
– Promoting open trust and honesty amongst all members
of the Forum.
– Develop collaboration opportunity between members.
– Grow the WNF Membership and promote commitment strength
in numbers and diversification.
– Continue to create ongoing opportunity for Welsh Businesses.
– Communicate information of compliance requirement:
ISO, Fit 4 Nuclear, National Skills Academy and support
any area of business that need help to supply into
the nuclear market.
– Set up “Work Shops” with the tier one Nuclear base clients.
– Promote and Market the supply and services of Welsh industry.
– Assist with the Capacity and member business capability.
– Develop further “Academies” within Wales for Welsh Industry.

– Recent Progress – 3,500 plus workers now on site,
£465m of contracts let with companies in the locality.
– Welsh companies – many of which are active members of WNF
now engaged with HPC with contracts in place or in planning
– European Pressurised Reactor (EPR) technology now in use –
the world’s first EPR connected to a power grid and to generate
electricity – at Taishan in China
– A key project milestone with the start of the manufacturing
activities on the first rotor of the ARABELLE steam turbine
at Belfort in France
– Welsh Government contract in place with HPC Engagement
Team to deliver supply chain services and work package
analysis – first event held in Cardiff on May 22nd
– The urgent need for investment in low-carbon energy
generation in the UK
– The EPR is the most powerful civil nuclear reactor
in the world
– Hinkley Point C will deliver power in the mid-2020s,

Partners of the Wales Nuclear Forum will be able to nominate a Company representative to attend the WNF “Steering Group” meetings to assist with the development of Planning going forward.
  • 9. Mission Statement To provide a forum for strategic engagement between the Nuclear Industry and Wales based suppliers.
  • 10. Objectives – Foster collaboration between Forum members enabling joint enterprises to attract business which might be lost to individual companies. – Be an advocate for suppliers and give a direct communication route between representatives of the supply chain and customers. – Ensure we connect up to all levels of the supply chain. – Collect and aggregate knowledge from Wales Nuclear Forum members and to act as a conduit for dissemination of useful information.

Objectives – Act as focus group, being a sounding board and identifying improvement areas providing an arena for supplier input. – Monitor and measure success utilising the WNF Website. – Champion best practice among Wales Nuclear Forum members and gather examples of such practices for presentation to Forum members – Identify areas where support is best applied across the forum group. – Promote the strength, diversity, professionalism and depth of services offered by Wales Nuclear Forum members to the nuclear industry.
  • 12. – Already developed strong representation and recognition in the Nuclear Supply Chain for “New Build” and “Decommissioning”. – The WNF has now been established for just over two years. – WNF Website launched at the NDA event in November 2017. – Monitored and Advised by the Welsh Government. – Meetings held with Government Senior Ministers gaining full support. – Attended many Nuclear Events across the UK and Europe. – Developed collaboration opportunities with European organisations. – Ongoing industry collaboration with other Forums across the UK. Progress – Developed representation at the Nuclear Innovation Centre in Bridgwater HPC project. – Assisted Welsh based businesses with the implementation of the F4N assessment. – Promoted and developed WNF member networking through many events. – Completed a collaborative business improvement program with Costain, ARUP and Acorn, targeted for Welsh SME’s. – Shared intelligence for new companies to entre into the Nuclear supply chain. – Created opportunities for member companies to “Market” their business through the WNF website. – Ongoing development and communication with all tier one companies and the SWMAS team to ensure members are registered as a suitable supplier.
  • 14. – Promotion of Welsh Member Companies with support and guidance from Welsh Government at every level of the Nuclear Industry supply chain. – Improving collective communication, intelligence and guidance, lead by the Steering Group but importantly by all members of the Forum. – Attending future Nuclear Events to show Wales Industry has a major part to play in opportunities within the Nuclear industry across the UK and Europe. – Promoting open trust and honesty amongst all members of the Forum. – Develop collaboration opportunity between members.
  • 15. – Grow the WNF Membership and promote commitment strength in numbers and diversification. – Continue to create ongoing opportunity for Welsh Businesses. – Communicate information of compliance requirement: ISO, Fit 4 Nuclear, National Skills Academy and support any area of business that need help to supply into the nuclear market. – Set up “Work Shops” with the tier one Nuclear base clients. – Promote and Market the supply and services of Welsh industry. – Assist with the Capacity and member business capability. – Develop further “Academies” within Wales for Welsh Industry.

Hinkley Point C Key facts – Recent Progress – 3,500 plus workers now on site, £465m of contracts let with companies in the locality. – Welsh companies – many of which are active members of WNF now engaged with HPC with contracts in place or in planning – European Pressurised Reactor (EPR) technology now in use – the world’s first EPR connected to a power grid and to generate electricity – at Taishan in China – A key project milestone with the start of the manufacturing activities on the first rotor of the ARABELLE steam turbine at Belfort in France – Welsh Government contract in place with HPC Engagement Team to deliver supply chain services and work package analysis – first event held in Cardiff on May 22nd
  • 17. – The urgent need for investment in low-carbon energy generation in the UK – The EPR is the most powerful civil nuclear reactor in the world – Hinkley Point C will deliver power in the mid-2020s, right when the country needs it – Hinkley Point C will help strengthen the UK’s industrial stamina, creating 25,000 jobs and 1,000 apprenticeships – Hinkley Point C will help avoid the release of nine-million tonnes of CO2 each year.
