This study investigates the incidence and complications of central venous catheter (CVC)-related deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in critically ill children with congenital heart disease (CHD) in a pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit. Higher total line hours, multiple CVC lines, and prolonged intubation times were identified as significant risk factors for DVT, which is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The findings aim to inform the development of risk models to improve screening and anticoagulation practices for this vulnerable population.
