In the first quarter of 2007, CSX reported earnings per share of $0.52 compared to $0.53 in the first quarter of 2006. Excluding insurance recoveries, comparable earnings per share were $0.50. Surface transportation operating income was $469 million, compared to $487 million in 2006, excluding insurance recoveries in both periods.
