● We need more programs and support for people needing help.
Especially our homeless and all ages during this Pandemic.
● Yes I agree. We are told to “figure it out or deal with it”
● In my culture, people view mental health is a lie for misbehave

What did you think? What did you feel?
● "They took away our choice" I got chills when I heard that, feelings of sadness and anger and
hope
● Sad and hopeful
● its hard to understand what your elders went through and how to relate to them
● I was thinking of how resilient they are
● Sentimental
● unhappy because it was something we can control, but it up for me to heal
● Hopeful
● enlightened
● I went through the same experience in my past
● emotional
● Most of asian family, are same, dont show love to members in family. Im Vietnamese and I see it
is kind culture. No one say I love you.
● Understanding what our elders went through is important so we can begin to heal ourselves
● Very sad and hopeful
● could relate in some areas, angry
● I was also really impacted by them losing the virtue of real love
● sorry
● Very sad to see that they were forced!
● I keep thinking about racial trauma informed therapy and inter-generational trauma and most
importantly the healing
● not able to digest
#Movies4MentalHealth#Movies4MentalHealth
What are some practices that help support your wellness?
● getting outdoor in nature
● Talking to my family about their experiences really makes me understand some of their behaviors
which makes me more empathetic
● journaling, storytelling
● my sobriety
● Exercise in ocean , prayer
● gratitude
● Exercising
● Teaching family members about mental health as well as acknowledging cultural differences that can
create distancing when talking about wellness
● Meditation and reflection
● reading, writing, listening to music, talking to friends when I can but right now I can't because of what's
going on
● Practicing being vulnerable, by opening up to my close friends/family
● Learned to not be afraid to talk about my illness.
● Reading, water, ocean
● having convrsation with family and friends
● Taking support
● Talking about my trauma even in an uncomfortable situation. This involves learning the difference
between uncomfortable and innapropriate. Additionally, being able to set boundaries and tell people to
stop trying to help me when all they do it make if more difficult.
● reading, listning music
● Time and having healthy people around you. Different social outlets so you always have someone to
talk to. The outdoors too!

What did you think? What did you feel?
● her mom told her to not wash her dirty laundry in public. i feel like sometimes if
parents aren't informed they can give unhelpful advice and can lead to people that
have problems not knowing where to go and what to do
● Very relatable
● Exactly!
● This makes me think about the fact that wanting to talk to someone doesn't always
mean someone wants advice, sometimes you just want someone to listen. Also how
scary it is to recognize you aren't okay and that seeking help is unattainable because
of not knowing how to reach help and culture.
● Her husband said she is useless. that hurt!
● i think its important to show that adults struggle with dealing mental illnesses as well
● things changes after marriage
● great representation of depression
● My mom would say , don't rock the boat. I think it always needs to be rocked to get
things out.
● Makes me think about a lot of my 5150 patients, who a lot of the time are the ones that
hide their feelings and are forced to bottle everything in until they can't deal with it
anymore
● I thought it was great that her friend told her to seek professional help because her
friend knew she wouldn't be able to help her how she needed - normalizing therapy!
#Movies4MentalHealth#Movies4MentalHealth
How can we support ourselves and others?
● she had hard time to share her problems because she was thaught by her mother that it
not ok to bring your personal life in public
● offer a shoulder to lean on
● At least she realized that she has to take support
● lending a ear
● Speak out
● you need appreciation for work to improve ralationship, youshould not hesitate to take
doctors appointment
● Make sure you are in a healthy head space before you offer support
● show compassion, listening, empathy
● Ask your friends and family how they're doing and be present, listen
● share your own experience and how we deal with it
● Recognizing our strengths and weakness, normalizing therapy and mental health, calling
out stereotypes
● asking if they are okay
● She did the right thing ifnore her husband andnmom’s comments
● get out and talking with family
● No judgement and just listen. Then you should ask if they need you to help find
professional help.
● Setting boundaries like, "I don't think i can help you right now but maybe I can direct you
to these resources ...."

  • 31. #Movies4MentalHealth#Movies4MentalHealth What did you think? What did you feel? ● her mom told her to not wash her dirty laundry in public. i feel like sometimes if parents aren't informed they can give unhelpful advice and can lead to people that have problems not knowing where to go and what to do ● Very relatable ● Exactly! ● This makes me think about the fact that wanting to talk to someone doesn't always mean someone wants advice, sometimes you just want someone to listen. Also how scary it is to recognize you aren't okay and that seeking help is unattainable because of not knowing how to reach help and culture. ● Her husband said she is useless. that hurt! ● i think its important to show that adults struggle with dealing mental illnesses as well ● things changes after marriage ● great representation of depression ● My mom would say , don't rock the boat. I think it always needs to be rocked to get things out. ● Makes me think about a lot of my 5150 patients, who a lot of the time are the ones that hide their feelings and are forced to bottle everything in until they can't deal with it anymore ● I thought it was great that her friend told her to seek professional help because her friend knew she wouldn't be able to help her how she needed - normalizing therapy!
  • 32. #Movies4MentalHealth#Movies4MentalHealth How can we support ourselves and others? ● she had hard time to share her problems because she was thaught by her mother that it not ok to bring your personal life in public ● offer a shoulder to lean on ● At least she realized that she has to take support ● lending a ear ● Speak out ● you need appreciation for work to improve ralationship, youshould not hesitate to take doctors appointment ● Make sure you are in a healthy head space before you offer support ● show compassion, listening, empathy ● Ask your friends and family how they're doing and be present, listen ● share your own experience and how we deal with it ● Recognizing our strengths and weakness, normalizing therapy and mental health, calling out stereotypes ● asking if they are okay ● She did the right thing ifnore her husband andnmom’s comments ● get out and talking with family ● No judgement and just listen. Then you should ask if they need you to help find professional help. ● Setting boundaries like, "I don't think i can help you right now but maybe I can direct you to these resources ...."
