The preamble has a great bearing on
educational basis and programmes.
It reads…
• “WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly
resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its
citizens:
• JUSTICE, social, economic and political, LIBERTY
of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship
• EQUALITY of status and opportunity and to
promote among them also
• FRETERNITY assuring the dignity of the
individual and the Unity of the nation;…
• The above preamble clearly shows the goals
to be achieved by our nation
• There are many principles of curriculum
construction which coincide with national
goals
• The co-ordinated and integrative knowledge,
skills, attitudes and aptitude of the young
generation will definitely help to achieve the
goals of the nation
They are…
• Equal educational opportunity and equal
education experiences
• Treating all the students alike in the
classrooms and the school
• While instructing individual differences are
taken care of
• Democratic classroom atmosphere is to be
maintained by integrative teacher
• Individual freedom in selecting the different
courses of study
• Technical and vocational education for the
pupils who opt for it
• Diversified courses in order to fulfil the
individual needs
• Teachers-student planning
• Library, laboratory and play ground facilities
in the school
• Inclusion of Health Education, recreational
activities working in with the community,
SUPW as the integral parts of curriculum
• Common Education Pattern (10+2+3)
through out the country
• Provision for Moral and Religious
instructions in the schools
• Literacy programmes, adult education
programme as part of co-curricular
activities
• The programmes such as NSS, NCC are
given due importance in educational
experiences of the students
Involvement of teachers in curriculum
planning and implementation
• The success of the curriculum depends on the
involvement of the teachers in the
programmes
• He can bridge the gap between theory and
practice
• There are variety of ways for the
improvement of teachers in curriculum
planning and administration
• They can be viewed in three categories –
General, classroom and personal
General Teachers are…
• Become members of committees to study a
curriculum and thereby give their ideas
• Contribute more ideas when the membership is
on the basis of specialization
• Change ideas and materials into other teachers
and this leads to professional growth of teacher
• Act as communication agents for the school and
create understanding between the public and
the school
• Represent their school at conferences. This will
bring back ideas to their schools
Classroom :
• A fundamental responsibility of the
teacher is to know his student. This will
enable him to identify the problems of
individuals since the ultimate goal is to
be benefit individual
• Experiences gained in his classroom will
help the teachers to discover new ideas
and the possibilities of better
implementation of the curriculum
• The teacher’s experiences with children pave
the way for purposeful planning and effective
implementation with reference to objectives,
materials and activities of the curriculum
• Specialists in teaching may be asked to
contribute to curriculum planning as
consultants
• More experienced teachers can spare their
services with regard to the selection of
materials and action oriented learning
experiences to be included in the curriculum
