- 2. Main Study Goal To evaluate the public health benefit of distributed rapid HIV tests for “at-home” use by men who have sex with men (MSM) recruited via the internet.
- 3. Primary Outcomes of Interest Acceptability and use of rapid HIV test Frequency of HIV testing Linkage to care and supplemental testing Test distribution to social/sexual network Changes in HIV sex risk behaviors Test preference (oral fluid vs blood)
- 4. Eligibility Criteria Male at birth, currently identify their sex as male ≥18 years old Report anal sex with a man in the past year English proficient (testing directions in Spanish) No one with bleeding disorders or on ARV US & Puerto Rico
- 5. Milestones To Date Investigational Device Exemption obtained for use of Sure Check in Parts 3 & 4 IDE not required for parts 1 & 2 Parts1, 2 & 3 – completed Part 4 recruitment initiated 3/2015 Projected Timeline: completed late 2016
- 6. Part 4:Randomized Trial of Kit Distribution Goals: To evaluate the public health benefits (testing frequency, impact on sex risk behaviors) of “at home” rapid HIV tests among MSM. To link persons with a reactive rapid test result to medical services. To assess distribution of rapid tests to social and sexual networks (increase access).
- 7. Part 4: HIV Positive Group Subgroup Goal: To evaluate distribution of OraQuick tests to network associates (secondary users): To whom were tests given? Do participant know the result of secondary user’s test? Will secondary users report data online?
