The study evaluated the ichthyotoxicity of Dioscorea dumetorum on African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings and anuran tadpoles, revealing a 96-hour LC50 of 2.153 mg/l for fingerlings and 2.538 mg/l for tadpoles, indicating slight preference toxicity towards fish. No significant difference in toxicity was found between the two species (p>0.05). The research underscores the need to discourage the indiscriminate use of this plant for fishing due to its adverse effects on aquatic life.
