Evaluation Task 1
In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products? (i.e. of real film openings)

                 Bobby Griffin
Evaluation task 1
We chose this font and title for our production
company because it is very effective. The font styles
are very simple, which gives an effect of
professionalism and makes it look very classy. The title
has an animation of light passing behind the font, this
makes it stand out that little bit more, to draw the
attention of the audience.
In this shot, it shows a scene where the main
character is walking down a dark alley. The effects on
the shot are a CCTV camera effect. This gives a darker
effect on the shot and adds suspense to what he is
doing. Also this shot does not show the identity of the
character, which adds a mysterious effect to what the
audience may think.
In this shot, there are 3 separate shots of the main
character waling through a town center, and then 1
other shot setting the scene. This split screen lets the
audience see what is happening from different
perspectives. Also the 4 different shots set the scene
of where the character is working, and by showing him
in 3 different location, could suggest that he knows his
way around the town, and again in these shots the
identity of the character is again a mystery.
This screen shot is of our titles. They are all white, and
some are on a black background and some blend in
with some of the shots, as you can see they have an
animation added to them which fades them out of the
shot. The titles are bold, with contrasting colours to
the background which all makes them stand out more.
This is the Main Title for our trailer, we have made this
title even bigger than the others because it is the most
important, as we wanted the audience to focus on the
name of the film. We also changed the colours and
style to this title by making the word and background
the same colour and then adding a glow to make it
stand out. This effect makes the title have a more
darker and scarier feel to it.
In this shot, you can see the main character looking at
a map, he has got his hand up near his head which
may suggest he is think. He then points at a location
on the map and walks on, this could indicate an area
where he is going, and could then play a vital part in
the film, which leaves the audience thinking what
could happen.
In this part of the opening sequence, you can see the
main character going into his pocket to put his phone
away where he was previously talking to someone. In
this shot we have used a very low camera angle that
helps the audience to see where he is heading (into
the woods) and again, makes them think what he is
going to do when he gets there.
Here you can see the main character, with another of
our props (the newspaper). In this scene of the
opening sequence we added a blur along with
changing the brightness, we did this because we felt
that when we shot this scene, it was a lot lighter than
we wanted, so making this darker has added a more
spooky effect.
This is the last shot of the opening sequence and it
shows the main character walking into the deep
woods, and after walking through the whole town, it
could suggest he is going to do something he has
already planned. As he walks away into the woods and
away from the camera, it leaves the audience thinking
what is going to happen.
