Search Strategies and TipsUsing ‘AND’ narrows a search: results must include both terms, e.g.:
SMEs AND “employment relations”Using  ‘OR’ broadens a search: results can include either term, e.g.:“public service” OR “civil service”
pay OR salary OR remuneration
SMEs OR “small and medium-sized enterprises”Using ‘NOT’ specifies a term must not appear in the results, e.g.:accounting NOT forensicWhen searching for phrases, some databases require quotation marks   “….. ” , e.g.:“leadership style”
