Five key growth trends were identified for Asian retailing between 2017-2021: 1) Changing consumer demographics in Asia will drive growth, especially rapid urbanization in China and India. 2) China and India will account for 60% of retail sales growth in Asia Pacific. 3) Grocery retail is modernizing across emerging Asian markets through expanding convenience stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets. 4) Fast fashion is outpacing apparel specialists as sportswear grows rapidly. 5) Digital commerce, especially e-commerce and m-commerce, will see explosive growth and vary significantly by country.
