- 3. 1.Absences Registry : Every student can do 50 hourly truancies and 65 absences justified by a doctor or by their parents in one school year. 2 Attendance in class: Pupils arrive promptly at school (5 minutes before the bell rings), and have to attend the morning assembly and pray in peace and order. All students are required to attend the daily morning assembly of the school, because it is a unique opportunity for them to get together, to exchange information, information and for the psychological preparation for the educational work that follows. If a student is late in the morning they have to be admitted in class only with the written permission of the headmaster.
- 5. 3 Rules during the Breaks: the students are forbidden to go out of school during the break. In any case they have to protect themselves from any danger and especially not to climb on the windows and the railings of the staircase and courtyard. The entry and stay in school for extracurricular activities premises is strictly prohibited. 4 Distraction of the Lesson: Many students use to interrupt the lesson for several reasons. They usually make noise without specific reason, talk to each other during the lesson or behave in appropriate way to their teachers or to their classmates (they revile, they speak cheekily etc.) In these cases the teacher, first of all makes recommendations to the students. The second step is to make them leave the classroom. The third step is to refer the illegal behavior of the student to the director to decide if there is a serious reason to expel the student from the school for a few (1-3) days. If the behavior of the student is completely delinquent and repeated, the school community may decide changing of school environment.
- 7. 5 Rules to pass the class : The students must have an average (9,5) in each course to pass the class. There are written exams for every lesson at the end of the school year in May and June, and in the final grade I made up with the oral performance ensue the final grade. If one student cannot pass the class in June, they can try again in September ,at the beginning of the new school year. If they fail again, they repeat the class. 6 Behavior at the schoolyard: During the intermissions between the lessons students usually behave illegally at the school yard or in the school toilets. They break the wall, they destruct the school property, they fight. The director of the school first of all can decide the expulsion of the student. In extreme cases the teachers and the school community decide changing of school environment.
- 9. 7 Extracurricular Behavior: All students preserve their student status during their holidays at Christmas, Easter, weekends and summer. So, they are responsible for their actions. If they behave illegally in these days and holiday periods, school community have the right and the authority to punish the students after their returning at school. GENERAL BEHAVIOUR Students must respect and be courteous towards teachers, classmates and all employees at the school. Should avoid bickering and strictly control any possible violence. If a student is experiencing problems with their peers, must be addressed to the teachers and the management in order to avoid tensions and conflicts and so that problems can be solved through dialogue.

- 17. Our 5 Main Points One of the first things our pupils learn at Fyllingsdalen Upper Secondary School is what we call Our 5 main points. These five points hang on the wall in every single classroom. The school has used the pronoun ‘we’ in order to emphasize that the pupils are all in this together as a group. Everyone has to contribute. Our 5 main points are what our school regard as the general and most important rules: We are on time We are tidy and keep things in order (i.e. classroom, hallways, books, etc.) We are prepared for lessons We let each other work in peace, and do not disturb others We treat each other with respect

Behaviour: -Do not use your mobile phone during lessons -Do not use the Internet for purposes that are not related to school work -Close your laptop when the teacher is teaching -Do not disturb the lessons -Do not leave the classroom without permission Orderliness: -Be on time -Bring your books and other types of necessary material to class -Hand in self-certification when you are ill (or cannot be at school due to other reasons, i.e. doctor’s appointment, dentist’s appointment, attending a funeral, political work, engaging in sports events on a national/international level, etc.). -Do your homework and hand in assignments on time
- 21. Rules during breaks During breaks (between lessons and at lunch) our pupils have to follow the general school rules. However, when pupils in Norway start upper secondary school they are regarded as more mature and responsible. As a result, the teachers are not supervising what is going on during the breaks. The headmaster and the rest of the school’s management occasionally carry out inspections to make sure that the pupils do not smoke on school property. Still, the majority of our pupils behave well, and incidents of violence and vandalism are not common. In addition, our school is not surrounded by a fence. The school yard is an open area, and our pupils can choose to leave the school yard during breaks as long as they are on time for their next lesson. There is a shopping centre located right next to our school, and it is very popular for our pupils to go there during lunch to buy food.
- 23. Consequences when rules are violated The System of Black marks The most common form of ‘punishment’ when our pupils break the rules is the system of black marks. In addition to giving our pupils marks in the various subjects at school we also have two marks that reflect our pupils’ ability to follow the rules! We have one mark that reflects the pupil’s behaviour, and one mark that reflects the pupil’s orderliness. We call these marks Mark for orderliness and Mark for behaviour. Each of these marks is divided into 3 levels: Satisfactory Partly satisfactory Not satisfactory Normally, we act according to these regulations with regard to Mark for orderliness: 0-12 black marks = Satisfactory 13-25 black marks= Partly satisfactory 26+ black marks = Not satisfactory
- 25. Expulsion Expulsion is regarded as a more extreme form of punishment. The headmaster and the teachers have to use discretion with regard to expulsion. Once again, it is a question of the severity of the rules of behaviour that have been broken. Teachers can only expel pupils from their own lessons, not for the entire day. Only the headmaster can expel pupils for one or several days. Expulsion occurs after serious behavioral violations. Some concrete examples are: - Smoking on school grounds (three times) leads to 1 day of expulsion - Drug abuse and being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at school leads to at least 1 day of expulsion - Cheating on tests/plagiarism leads to at least 1 day of expulsion - Bullying and harassment (i.e. racism, sexual harassment) leads to more than 1 day of expulsion. - Theft leads to at least 1 day of expulsion - Sabotage and vandalism of school property leads to one or more days of expulsion
