This paper discusses harmonic minimization in multilevel inverters, specifically a 7-level cascade inverter, using a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) approach to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) by eliminating lower order harmonics such as the 5th and 7th. The implementation of the PSO algorithm is detailed, showing its effectiveness in determining optimal switching angles for the inverter while addressing challenges related to solving nonlinear transcendental equations. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method provides superior solutions for THD reduction compared to traditional techniques.
