 How is Oolong Tea Processed and How Much Caffeine
Does It Contain?
 Oolong is Chinese semi-fermented tea produced
through a unique process.
 This includes withering under the strong sun and
oxidation before curling and twisting.
 By this process it undergoes partial oxidation of
between 10 to 85 percent.
 Most oolong teas, especially those of fine quality,
involves the use unique tea plant cultivars.
 The Unique tea plant cultivars are exclusively used
for peculiar varieties.
 A cup of Wu long tea does contain between 15 – 30 percent
of caffeine content in a cup of coffee.
 This means minimal side effects, hereby making it a
considerably healthier alternative to coffee.
 Equally the caffeine in tea is slowly released into the
blood stream unlike coffee and hence does not make
you jittery.
 Even at that, when swished in hot water for 30 seconds
about 80 percent of the caffeine content is removed.
 When brewing loose Oolong or Oolong tea bag it is
better to drain off the first brew after 30 seconds of
pouring in hot water.
 This not only removes the caffeine but equally enhance
the flavor and aroma Oolong tea is known for.
