Assignment title E6 Radio Jingle Production

The purpose of this assignment is to:
Develop your understanding of broadcast and non-broadcast audio products and formats.
Develop your ability to use portable sound recording technology to produce sound recordings.
Develop your ability to use audio post-production software to create radio jingle content.
Develop your ability to evaluate the quality of your radio jingle productions.

Scenario
Broadcast radio is a combination of many types of programmes and features, covering news, entertainment, radio drama and topical
discussion to name but a few.

Linking this broad range of radio programme content is the radio station ident or as it is more commonly known, the ‘jingle’.

E6 Radio has commissioned you to produce station jingles that will feature prominently alongside future E6 Radio productions. In order for
you to achieve this you must produce voice recordings that clearly state E6 Radio by name and utilise audio post-production software to
edit your jingle content.

It is expected that your final E6 Radio jingles will contain clear evidence of post-production VST plugin and audio effects automation.

Good luck!

                                                                                                                                             1
Tasks Grading Criteria Mapping

Task 1 Unit 6: P1/M1/D1

Provide word processed researched quotes AND definitions in your own words that explain your
understanding of what the following broadcast and non-broadcast audio products and formats are:

 Broadcast Non-Broadcast Audio formats
          Terrestrial radio Podcasts CD
Digital audio Internet radio Music TV
          broadcasting (DAB) Wav
          News and features MP3
          packages
          Music and speech
          based programming
          Radio drama
          Commercials

Task 2 Unit 6: P2/M2/D2

Record verbal / spoken word jingle content that prominently features the E6 Radio brand name. In order
to do this you must first produce a series of word processed phrases and statements that will act as your
recording script. You must then ensure that these recordings (production) are clear and recorded at the
correct audio levels to avoid distortion and clipping.

Task 3 Unit 6: P2/M2/D2

Utilise audio post-production techniques to produce E6 Radio jingles.

Your finished jingles, when uploaded to your blog, must include annotated print screens to visually show
what audio effects and automation processes you have applied to your jingles. Your finished productions
must contain a mixture of spoken word only and music based E6 Radio jingles.

Task 4 Unit 6: P3/M3/D3

Produce a word processed evaluation of two of your finished E6 Radio jingles. To do this you must firstly
gather audience feedback through the design and distribution of an online survey gathering audience
feedback

Your evaluation must do the following:
Evaluate the quality of two of the finished products compared to your original intentions
Evaluate technical (post-production) strengths and weaknesses of two of your completed jingles
Include word processed interpretation of audience feedback (annotated print screens of online
         survey feedback)
Summary conclusion of production and post-production skills you have acquired through
         producing E6 Radio jingles.
