wrongfully convicted for the murders of three people in 1966. Two black men in a white car shot and
killed three people in the Lafayette Bar Grill. Carter and his black friend, John Artis, were arrested for
driving a white car and being black. The police assumed that Carter and Artis were guilty. The police
