RIOXX is a metadata application profile for institutional repositories that was developed in 2015 to support reporting open access status to UK research funders. It is implemented in over 60 UK repositories and used by the Core aggregation service to harvest metadata. The RIOXX specification is maintained by Antleaf and governed by a new RIOXX Governance Group under UKCORR. This group will oversee any revisions to the RIOXX standard.

UKCORR Members day 2019: Piloting a REF compliance service for Arts & Humanitiesukcorr

The university piloted a new approach to providing REF compliance reports and services for their Arts and Humanities faculty after receiving negative feedback on the previous reports. They gathered requirements from research staff which indicated a need for clearer and more concise messages and guidance. The new approach involved removing reporting functionality from their Pure system and developing online forms and automated emails to provide targeted instructions to researchers. Initial feedback on the new service was very positive, though it required more staff time and technical expertise to implement and support. The next steps would be to continue gathering feedback, assess rolling it out more broadly, and adapting it for future REF cycles and open access reporting.

Orpheus is an open source database that was created to automate repository workflows for an institutional repository at the University of Cambridge. It imports structured data on journals and publishers from various sources to provide machine-readable information on self-archiving policies, article processing charges, licenses, and more. This saves staff significant time by reducing the need to repeatedly look up journal attributes. Initial use resulted in coverage of self-archiving policies for 60% of outputs, now increased to 80%, saving an estimated 14.5 staff hours per week.

#2: Keen to improve access to theses. Theses notoriously difficult to get hold off.Handled 1 per working week from stock of 36,000.
#6: Would send 200 theses per annum via ILLs (figure in 2005) for the UK. 100 photocopy requests for overseas. Could not fill most requests as we sought permission from authors. We make an attempt to contact all authors. Now we take “risk managed approach” to covering ethos. We joined microfilm service from the BL in 2000.
