Shadow's middleware platform can uniquely exploit IBM's zIIP and zAAP specialty engines to improve mainframe SOA enablement and lower total cost of ownership. By offloading certain processing workloads to the specialty engines, Shadow can achieve significant performance enhancements without consuming general purpose processor resources. This allows customers to defer mainframe hardware upgrades while still gaining processing capacity. Shadow's exploitation of the zIIP in particular can reduce middleware general purpose processor consumption by 50-90% for SOA and data-related workloads.
