LOCATION , CLIMATE AND
GEOLOGY OF INDONESIA
Indonesia - Location
Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia, between
the Indian and the Pacific ocean. It is the world's largest island
country, with more than seventeen thousand islands.
The climate
Lying along the equator,
Indonesia's climate tends to be
relatively even year-round.
Indonesia has two seasons
(a wet season and a dry season)
with no extremes of summer or
winter. For most of Indonesia, the
dry season falls between April and
October with the wet season
between November and March.
Indonesia's climate is almost
entirely tropical.
Some regions, such as Kalimantan and Sumatra, experience
only slight differences in rainfall and temperature between the
seasons, whereas others, such as Nusa Tenggara, experience
far more pronounced differences with droughts in the dry
season, and floods in the wet.
Geology
Tectonically, Indonesia is highly unstable, making it a site of
numerous volcanoes, frequent earthquakes and tsunamis.

INDONESIA

◦ Education in Indonesia falls under the responsibility of the
Ministry of Education and Culture, which is a government
ministry that organises the education affairs there.
◦ In Indonesia, all citizens must undertake twelve years
of compulsory education which consists of six years at
elementary level and three each at middle and high school
levels.

semester.
◦ The beginning of the school year starts in the month of July and
ends in June. Between those months, there are national holidays
which means that the school closes.
◦ Indonesian children spend 240 days in schools on average in an academic
year .
◦ Despite the obstacles that Indonesian students may face in school, they
always have a thirst for knowledge. The teachers and students work together
so the students can have a bright future.

two hours from Bali. You can go around the island and enjoy
this little paradise.
◦ Bali is so picturesque and exotic that it looks like a movie
scene, surrounded by lush forests and mountains. It has
beautiful beaches where you can enjoy surfing and
swimming. Bali has a wonderful rich civilization, which
remains to be discovered …
Indonesia
FESTIVALS

festivals throughout the year. These festivals are celebrated by
Javanese, Balinese and people of other communities in Indonesia.

PROBLEMS
NATURAL DISASTERS
◦ On average, at least one major
natural disaster has occurred in
Indonesia every month since the
2004 tsunami, including
earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic
eruptions and events caused by
climate change.
◦ Indonesia has coped with the
challenges of natural disasters
for hundreds of years, with
recorded earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions dating back
to the 13th Century.
Indonesia
Energy crisis
