INFLUENCER CLASS ASSIGNMENT
We will as a class spend one day at the Kentucky Derby Museum, where we will be an “influencer class” for the museum. We will
have the chance to meet the great professionals who are working in social media and marketing for the museum, and we will be
able to create and share content on your own profiles of the experience.
Influencer marketing is a key part of human interaction marketing, so this is a great opportunity for you to get experience in this
key area of specialization within social media. This is an opportunity for you all to experience what it is like to be an influencer for
a brand, company, and organization.
This is an individual and class project. You all have a unique perspective to share, and you want this to be as natural and reflective
of how you would share your experience at the Kentucky Derby Museum with others.
At the end of this assignment, you will need to create a reflection post of your experience using Adobe Spark Page that includes
the questions outlined below.
Before the designated field trip, you will be asked to:
• Review influencer marketing practices (see Traackr specifically for white papers and training) and additional readings
that will be provided for the class;
• Understand the current view and implementation of influencer marketing. What are the benefits and challenges? Who
is doing really well with this?
• Conduct research on the social media profiles for the Kentucky Derby Museum and how do they compare with other
museums / attractions in town;
• Review the type of content influencers share traditionally on social media;
• Identify goals to accomplish during the field trip;
• Review professional etiquette guidelines for how to be strong influencer (do’s + don’ts)
• Prepare in advance content you feel would be great to share as an influencer for the Kentucky Derby Museum;
o Let your community about your participation for the event.
o Create branded content (ex. Adobe Post with logo of Kentucky Derby Museum) to share on social media.
o Encourage others to follow along and ask questions.
o Ask your community what they would like to see (ex. format, etc)
**Note the class hashtag #FrebergSM and #InfluencerClass [final designated event hashtag will be discussed] will be used.**
During the field trip, you will:
• Be professional and respectful. It is not every day we have a chance to be part of and influencer group for a prominent
brand.
• Think about the content, stories, and visuals/platforms you want to showcase during your time. Based on your own
accounts, what would be some things you feel would be great to show your community?
• What call to actions do you want to use to encourage audience members to check out the Kentucky Derby Museum?
• Save the content you have created + screen shot the metrics you are able to collect. This will be what you add for your
Adobe Spark Page assignment based on your experience.
• Create content to share on social media during the experience, like:
o Pictures w/ appropriate captions using #FrebergSM and #InfluencerClass and tag @KYMuseum on Twitter
o Implement a Snapchat Story
o Instagram Story using hashtags on IG + Location of the Kentucky Derby Museum
o Create a Twitter Moment with all of the tweets that have used #FrebergSM and #InfluencerClass from the
event.
At the end of the field trip, you will:
• Publish content and evaluate the measurements (ex. KPIs), etc for your own content, content that was shared by the
class, and the presence of the hashtag on social media.
o Measure reach, sentiment, impressions, comments, and other key metrics on social media.
o Review your own metrics on how many people saw your posts, stories, etc. What did you notice? Which
pieces of content got the most engagement, views, reach?
• Discuss lessons learned about influencer marketing + best practices.
• Create and share an Adobe Spark Page with images + reflection of experience using #FrebergSM on Twitter and tag the
Kentucky Derby Museum.
o Integrate your content you took from the trip.
o Think about branding + tell your story of your experience.
o Share on Twitter.
