- 2. A story of humble beginning Coffee is one of the world's most popular beverages and also one of the world’s most traded commodities. Some green coffee beans can travel more than 600,000km from their country of origin to the consumer markets before finally reaching the cup on the table.
- 3. TYPES OF BEANS Arabica - More expensive and less yield but still have 70% of the world trade. High sugar content and elongated in shape. Robusta - Cheaper than Arabica with higher yields and covers 30% of world trade. Higher caffeine ratio and round in shape.

Brazil, the top coffee-producing country, accounted for 40 percent of the global coffee supply. Vietnam, was the second-largest coffee producer, accounting for roughly 20 percent of the world coffee production.
- 5. The Coffee Business of India India is the third-largest producer and exporter of coffee in Asia, and the sixth-largest producer and fifth-largest exporter of coffee in the world. The country accounts for 3.14% (2019-20) of the global coffee production. The coffee production stood at 299,300 million tonnes (MT) during 2019-20P. The coffee production during 2020-21 is estimated at 342,000 million tonnes (MT). Of all the production, about 70% is exported and only 30% domestically consumed.

Since 2002, the board has been conducting the India International Coffee Festival, a biennial event held in India in collaboration with other industry stakeholders.
