Ion Mihalache was a Romanian agrarian politician and founder of the Peasants' Party in 1918. As the party's leader, he advocated for preserving Romania's rural economy through cooperative farming. During World War II, he opposed the fascist Iron Guard and complained about their takeover of his cooperative organization. After the Communists rose to power in 1947, Mihalache and other party leaders were arrested, tried in a kangaroo court, sentenced to life in prison, and Mihalache died in custody.
