IMPLEMENTATION OF VVOIP
VOICE AND VIDEO OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL
INTRODUCTION
Video Conferencing is a form of communications involving the transfer information
between two or more locations. The connection between these locations is the
communications channel and is called the network. It is the network loading in terms
of required bandwidth that needs to be considered. Bandwidth is the resource of a
network. It is the term given to the rate of transfer of information, usually in
bits/second; it is like the speed limit of the network and cannot be exceeded.
Analogues can be made between speed and bandwidth. If we wanted to know how
long it would take to travel 1000 km when we are limited to 50 km/h; then a simply
calculation of 1000 divided by 50 shows that it would take 20 hours. Likewise, if we
wanted to transfer one megabyte of data across a network with an available
bandwidth of 9600 kbps, it would take just over 14 minutes.
Available bandwidth is the limiting factor with desktop conferencing and sending
video creates lots of data. Consider a typical video image size of 352x288 pixels;
then this represents 101376 pixels or 304128 bytes of information per single frame.
Now consider how many frames per second that we want to see; this is called
frame rate. The human eye perceives 25 frames per second as continuous motion,
therefore using this rate in our calculation means that if we wanted to see
continuous motion video at this image size, we would need to transfer 304128 x 25
or approximately 7.2 Mbytes per second.
It is clear from the above example that video can place enormous demands on the
network and hence why available bandwidth is the bottleneck with desktop
conferencing systems.
There are essentially two ways of reducing the impact of this bottleneck. One is to
use a faster method of communications that increases the available bandwidth to
the conference; the other is to utilize methods that reduce the amount of data to be
transmitted and use systems that support H.264 compression.
In today’s business climate, companies are highly concerned with safety, time and
cost-related issues. As a result, video conferencing is more relevant than ever, and
the benefits are significant. VVOIP works closely with you to design the company’s
customized video conferencing environment. By drawing on years of recognized
industry leadership, VVOIP delivers solutions to meet all of the global video
conferencing needs.
The trade-off factors involved in determining the best system for the
corporate situation will be:
Expectation Levels Number of Location of
   Available Bandwidth Participants Participants
Acceptable Quality System Management Usage Concept
VOIP solutions that feature special phones provide a high-quality, rich
communications experience, deliver productivity-enhancing new applications, and
offer significant cost savings through consolidation of network costs for voice and
data, and elimination of costs of phone moves, additions, and changes. With the
greatest breadth and depth of integrated video, voice, and Web solutions, only the
proposed VVOIP delivers the ultimate communications experience.

AIM/OBJECTIVE OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM
VOIP, also called as Internet telephony or IP telephony, is the
transmission of Voice telephony services over IP, the Internet protocol.
Video conferencing allows people to communicate face- to-face without
the tremendous cost of travel (airfare, hotels, rental cars food etc).
The aim or objective of this project combines the special features of
video conferencing as well as VOIP to build an innovative facility called
VVOIP (Video Conference with Audio Transmission through VOIP)
Using VVOIP, people can assemble in their normal conference room
with one or more cameras and microphones and get their work done
without the time and expense of travel.

EXISTING SYSTEM
There are lots of readymade VOIP software available. We need audio as well
as video conferencing applications with VVOIP
Most of the videoconference system are compressed and decompressed using
a CODEC technique and later transmitted using the readily available telephone
line. The problem with the conventional telephone line is its limited bandwidth
Moreover the telephone line is intended for voice only and the telephone line
does not handle video signals very well, because video contains much more
information than audio and hence it is a very complex mechanism to handle this
   situation efficiently

PROPOSED SYSTEM SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
Operating system : Windows XP/2000
Software : JDK 1.3 or higher
Database : SQL Server 2000

PROPOSED SYSTEM HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
Processor : Intel Pentium PIII or higher
RAM : 128 MB or higher
HDD : 80 GB HDD
FDD : 1.44 MB or higher
Monitor / Keyboard / CD drive
PROPOSED SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The proposed system is the server based video conferencing system.
This system provides audio and video conferencing.
The client should have the control to transmit and receive according to
his or her own requirements.
The proposed system can be used effectively in tele-medicine areas, in
education field, in training field etc, i.e. EG: Video conference plays an
important role in tele-medicine application enabling doctors to interact
with patients through audio and video conferencing.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
A server that controls different clients
A client which can be used as a conferencing tool
  Audio transmission for clients
  Video transmission for clients
  Audio reception for clients
  Video reception for clients
  Text chat facility for clients

PRINCIPLE OF WORKING
Conducting a conference between two or more participants at different
sites by using computer networks to transmit audio and video data. For
example, a point-to-point (two-person) VVOIP system works much like
a video telephone.
Each participant has a video camera, microphone, and speakers mounted
on his or her computer. As the two participants speak to one another,
their voices are carried over the network using VOIP and delivered to the
other's speakers, and whatever images appear in front of the video
camera appear in a window on the other participant's monitor.
Multipoint videoconferencing allows three or more participants to sit in a
virtual conference room and communicate as if they were sitting right
next to each other. Until the mid 90s, the hardware costs made
videoconferencing prohibitively expensive for most organizations, but
that situation is changing rapidly.
Many analysts believe that VVOIP system will be one of the fastest-
growing segments of the computer industry in the latter half of the
decade.
ABOUT THE PROPOSED PROJECT:
A VVOIP (also known as a
videoteleconference) is a set of interactive
telecommunication technologies which allow
two or more locations to interact via two-way
video and audio transmissions
simultaneously.
It has also been called visual collaboration
and is a type of groupware
The proposed VVOIP is an integrated
software with Video conferencing as well as
VOIP technology.
A typical VVOIP systems consists video
transmission, which digitizes and
compresses audio and video signal. This
signal is decompressed at the receiving
station where it is reconstructed to resemble
the original information.
Compressing and decompressing information
is accomplished using a CODEC
(Compression – DeCompression schemes).
Speech codecs are specialized audio codecs
that look for voice patterns and
characteristics.
Since the human voice falls into a much
more limited audio range than music, a
speech codec is able to compress voice
conversations even further.
Compressing audio and video is a two-stage
process. The first stage converts the signals
from the source into an uncompressed digital
format.
At that point, one of several compression
algorithms is used to further compress the
digital code.

PROPOSED SYSTEM FEATURES
IP video conferencing network provides reliability and performance
enhancements over legacy video networks such as ISDN.
The proposed VVOIP is fixed-fee, unlimited usage plans are more
economical than ISDN-based video conferencing environments, and
provide a lower, more predictable network and multi-point
   conferencing expense.
In addition, VVOIP can be implemented without impacting our
existing data network and provides for a completely secure
 conferencing environment.
Streaming Video Solutions -VVOIP provides a complete array of
user-friendly streaming video solutions that allow us to create,
manage and distribute our corporate communications.
Non-technical business professionals can now easily record
meetings and presentations and create interactive presentations
from in-house conference rooms with the same high-quality results
 as professional media studios.
 Audio Conferencing Solutions
VVOIP audio conferencing solutions provide an easy and cost-
effective way to conduct conferences via telephone with a disbursed
group of employees, customers or partners.
Audio conferences, whether traditional PSTN or Voice over IP
(VoIP), can be used as a cost-effective complement to travel and
 face-to-face meetings.
Users can quickly set up and manage virtual meetings from any
telephone resulting in better communication and collaboration along
with a significant cost savings advantage over traditional audio
 conferencing services.
