- 2. Fossils Fossils of creatures can be found in the ground. The different skeletons of existing creatures shows that the creatures have changed, therefore being effected by evolution.
- 3. Anatomy Anatomies of various creatures have similar structures, for instance the front flipper of a seal, a cat’s paw, a horses’ front leg, a bat’s wing and human hands. They all look different and have different functions, but they all have the same number of bones, muscles, nerves and blood vessels arranged in a similar pattern. Each limb has been adapted to meet the needs of it’s environment, hence showing survival of the fittest.
- 4. Embryonic Development Embryonic development proves further evidence of evolution. There are similarities in the embryos of different species, showing that they may have evolved from a similar ancestor.
- 5. Distribution • Darwin saw on the Galapagos Islands, organisms found on islands were like the ones on the mainlands, but they had species that couldn’t be found anywhere else. The mainland and islands were never attached, so it is thought that they somehow came from the mainland, to evolve into something else.
- 6. Genetic Evidence DNA studies have provided more ways to get evidence of evolution. Apart from some viruses, all organisms use the same basic genetic code. This supports the evidence that everything is related and have evolved from common ancestors.
