- 8. What we want from you is research in to the part of the media industry that you are most interested in. That could be films, magazines, video games, television, journalism… whatever you are interested in. Find out about that industry. What jobs roles are available? What skills do people need to work in that industry? What level of education is needed? How diverse, or not, is the industry? We want some good facts and figures that you can take and then use in your illustrated guide. Write down the information that you find, and keep a record of where you found it. It’s best to get lots of research, and then pick the most useful information from that.
- 9. When making your illustrated guide, think carefully about all the elements involved. A good guide will have: • Concise information • Consistent image style • Clear, consistent typography • A coherent colour scheme All of these elements need to work together to create your guide.
- 10. (put your industry guide here) Filming – The person who is writing the film should always have an idea what they are wanted to film and make and elements such as plots, characters and conflict. There should also be a script so the cast know their roles and what they will be doing. As well as that, storyboards are huge also as they help you draw a sequence of shots so you know what the film will look like at each point. The cast is also important as you need to pick people who you feel will play the role best so having try-outs for roles could be helpful. Also, you have to pick locations and settings for your film.

- 13. What we want from you is research a specific person that works in the part of the industry you made your illustrated guide for. Focus on those involved in the production of media, rather than people who just appear in it. Find out as much as you can about them, to help you produce your fact file. We want to know what their education was like, what experience they have and what skills they have. Find quotes about them. Read about them. Get a good picture of who they are and how they got to where they are. Write down the information that you find, and keep a record of where you found it. It’s best to get lots of research, and then pick the most useful information from that.

A good fact file will have: • Concise and relevant information • Quotes about the practitioner • Information on their work and achievements • Background on how they got in to the industry This information can be presented with graphics, typography and a colour scheme.

He is considered as one of the founding pioneers of the new Hollywood era and one of the most popular directors and producers in film history. He became a household name as the director of Jaws, which was critically and commercially successful and is considered the first summer blockbuster. At the age of 12, he made his first home movie: a train wreck involving his toy Lionel trains. At age 13, while living in Phoenix, Spielburg won a prize for a 40-minute, war film he titled Escape to Nowhere, using a cast composed of other high school friends. There’s lot of famous quotes which he has used such as, “Every time I go to a movie, it’s magic, no matter what the movie’s about.” Also, he said “Once a month the sky falls on my head, I come to and I see another movie I want to make.

- 17. What are you currently doing to pursue a career in your chosen field? Currently I am studying at college doing a Level 3 Creative Media course. I am learning lots of new technical media and I want to do a lot of filming which I feel I can pursue a career in. This is why I like to film in my spare time and shoot videos which helps me develop my skills and get better so I can create a top quality film in the future.
- 18. What do you plan to do next in the pursuit of your chosen field? I would like to go to University and study filming and media. There I could hopefully learn more and start making short films and building my filming and camerawork skills which is huge in creating a good clear movie. As well as that, University will help broaden my techniques, shot types and other important filming techniques.
- 19. Select at least three potential University courses that would help you further your career aims. You should state what the course is, which university it is run by, the entry requirements and why you think it would help you. 1. The course is Film and Television Production and it is run by Teesside University. You require 96-112 UCAS points and also need a grade 4 in English and maths or a Level 2 functional skills in English and maths. 2. BA(Hons)film at Bournemouth University. The course requires 104-120 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 2 A levels or equivalent. BTEC extended diploma. 3. BA film and television at the University of Bristol. You need to have English language requirements and no specific GCSE subjects are rerquired/.
- 20. What type of work experience do you think you would need to help you in your future career? How might you be able to find work experience placements? If you could pick anywhere to do work experience, where would it be and why? Working at a filming set or stage will help massively as then I can get my own look and perspective of how the films put out in cinemas are constructed like and made which will help me with tips on how to direct and create the best movie which I can make. I will have to use tointernet and look on job websites or be active and go around and ask or look for jobs which is to do with filming. I would like to have a Digital content editor in Leeds there will be responsible for producing new and exciting content across a wide range of platforms.
- 21. What specific skills do you need to develop? There should be a mix of industry specific skills and also personal development points. When you identify these, come up with suggestions as to how you might make those improvements. I will need top develop my camera shot techniques and also preparation and structure how things will be ordered in a music video or a film. This will be helped if I do storyboards and mood boards as then the mood boards will help with the colours and styles and the storyboards will help me stay in structure and in order so I know which scenes come at which time.
- 22. In 5 years time I will… I want to be in the film industry creating and directing movies which are types that I am very passionate about so I very much love crime and action movies I would love to direct , film and be on set to see which would be a massive achievement for me if this happens.
