Guru Nanak Patshah established the township of Kartarpur and lived there, preaching the message of doing good deeds, meditating on the divine name, and sharing with others. Guru Angad Patshah succeeded him and continued spreading the message. Guru Amar Das Patshah established Ramdaspur, the later city of Amritsar, planning it to be the largest market in North India, bigger than Lahore.
