More About Antibody Tests: • Also known as SEROLOGY TESTS • Mostly conducted when there is NO SYMPTOMS • To check Past Infections • IMMUNE response • Anti- bodies are proteins which are produced by Immune System in response to any infection and are specific to infection. They are found in the liquid part of Blood called Serum or Plasma • IMMUNOGLOBULIN M (IgM) - First type of antibody produced in response to any infection • It is detectable from 4-7 days of Infection • IgM are short living and their presence signals a new infections at present A serology blood test is performed to detect and measure the levels of antibodies as a result of exposure to a bacteria or virus.
