Why are we adopting a themed approach in KS3? Clearer vision for the Learning Area Easy to understand, simple structure (Humanities Learning Wheel) PeLTS are vital to help students gain the skills to be successful learners and achievers Enables students and parents to see the links between subjects Ensures a consistent approach to teaching and learning within the Humanities Learning Area at Abbeyfield School http://abbeyfieldhumanities.blogspot.com
What about the ELP? In Humanities, we set Extended Learning Projects (ELP) rather than individual pieces of homework This system will continue, but will be tied into the themes outlined on Humanities Learning Wheel The projects will still be set by the class teacher at the beginning of the term and completed over the term as a paper-based project or a research task leading to an in-class assessment. http://abbeyfieldhumanities.blogspot.com
