For my ethnography project, I chose to study the fandom of The Walking Dead.
For the purpose of this paper, I will refer to The Walking Dead as a comic, a video
game, and a TV show series. The focus of this ethnography is to understand how the
comic book culture influences many fans. Since the series is based on a graphic novel
series, and some of the fans are schooled in comic culture; they arrive with literacy
in comic storytelling. Others who are not fans may recognize the visually and
narrative of zombie films, in the horror genre after 1968 s Night of the Living Dead
and Dawn of the Dead. Yet many Walking Dead fans appear to have migrated to the
zombie tale without any particular connection to the comic book storytelling, or
significant fascination, and the series fandom illuminates how an apocalyptic
imagination has expanded into popular culture.

Gnosticism is a term that is used for spiritual practices and religious beliefs. This

gnostic groups that we previously had less knowledge of. We knew of Gnosticism
from other texts and witnesses to them (Irenaeus) before. However, now there are

While America is excited about genetically modified organisms and think that they
are god sent other countries are weary of them and think that they are dangerous.
While many other countries label genetically modified organisms because they think
that people should have a choice whether or not they want to consume them America
believes that their people should not have to know therefore taking the people s

shown that genetically modified organisms have opened doors to new possibilities,

Stereotyping someone without knowing someone can bring unwanted conflicts
and wrong impressions. The other college students talked about me, as they tended

wonderful themes. The story s main character depicts a person of power. He was in

slaves. An African himself saw nothing wrong in doing this; this was an accepted

species, and 86% of sea turtle species are known to be affected by plastic debris

Mafalda: The Argentine Charlie Brown? In 1963, Argentine cartoon strip artist
JoaquГn Salvador Lavado, better known as Quino, was commissioned to create a
Peanuts esk advertisement for a brand of domestic appliances (Kuntz). To familiarize

The 3 major themes of this book were injustice, honor and worth, and death. Injustice
is seen straight away in the book, starting with the treatment of the black men who
work in poor paying jobs to survive in a society where they are born at a
disadvantage simply for the color of their skin. Also, narrated by Grant, from his
perspective, the constant critique on the society s treatment of the African American
community in the US during this time, which was constantly demonstrated by
diminishing one group of people. But the strongest example of injustice in the novel
was the unfair accusation and then official crime of Jefferson, which was completely

Golding
The Nature of Man On the tail end of WWII, the world was in ruins, the allies had
won, but so much and so many had still been lost. It was a glimpse into the true
horror that men were capable of. Amidst bloodshed and suffering it is
understandable that William Golding would have great difficulty viewing men as
naturally good. He argues in his novel, The Lord of the Flies that men need rules
and society to keep peace and that if they were to leave that they would fall into
chaos, but his arguments are only proven through characters he has constructed. In
this debate as old as time itself, there have been others who would disagree with
Golding; others who have more faith in man s nature and less partiality to the
system created to keep man in check. It may be overly optimistic to view humans
as creatures that are wholly good, but if we are purely evil inside and all that holds
us back are the flimsy rules of a society we created, then it would be a near
impossibility for us to have survived this long. In the novel, the collapse of order on
the island is not immediate. The boys retain their English civility in the face of the
truly horrific catastrophe that is the plane crash that strands them there, but slowly
over the course of the narrative their moral conditioning wears away and they
become what Golding believes to be the true darkness present in all men. But what

Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, automatically making it the administrative centre
of the county. Other than administration, Carlisle has several other areas in which its
activities are focused, such as tourism, shopping, and education. These areas are
known as settlement functions. Functions tend to change and develop as a city grows
over the years. Carlisleis a successful city, but whether or not this is due to its
changing functions is debatable.
Annan Academy s Geography class went to Carlisle in September 2015 to obtain
primary research data of the city s geographical issues.
Method 1
In order to figure out some of the current main functions of Carlisle, the first research
method used for this report was two RICEPOTS surveys of different areas in Carlisle
the CBD (the square near the Tourist Information Centre) and the area from West
Tower Street to Corporation Road. These areas were chosen to display a contrast
in the land usage of two areas of Carlisle which are close together. The RICEPOTS
surveys were completed by walking around the areas and annotating a map with the
purpose of each building in the area. Once both maps were annotated, the
information was put into a table before being compiled into a comparative bar graph
(see: Graph 1).
The results show that West Tower Street to Corporation Road is largely residential,

While we have been focusing on the whole Pacific Northwest region as a whole this
class, we have finally delved into a subregion that is close to all of us: the Inland
Empire. This area in the Pacific Northwest came into being during the late 19th
Century and encompassed much of Eastern Washington, the Idaho Panhandle and
parts of Eastern Oregon. The people of this region were very proud of their land and
some even held more pride for the Inland Empire than their own state. This fierce
loyalty to one s home was just as much a product of economic growth as many of the
other changes being see all around the Pacific Northwestin general. The Inland
Empire was, and is, an important subregion that was born of economic development
and competition with the cities on the coast.
