This document summarizes a lecture given by Kuntoro Mangkusubroto on decision science and its application in managing reforms in Indonesia. It discusses how decision science was used to make complex choices in recovery efforts after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and in establishing the UKP4, Indonesia's first presidential delivery unit. Examples provided include coordinating the massive post-disaster reconstruction in Aceh, negotiating electricity prices, and resolving issues to construct an FSRU facility in Jakarta. The lecture emphasizes that real-world decision making involves complex dynamics, negotiations and limited information. It also outlines how decision support systems were set up to aid the president and other leaders in navigating these challenging environments.
