British English Navy
 The English navy increased under Henry VIII
  from just 5 ships at the beginning of his reign to
  about 60 ships.
 The Royal Navy was developed by King Henry VIII
  was allowed to decay under his two immediate
  successors, Edward and Queen Mary.
 In 1548 there were 53 ships in the Fleet, with a
  total tonnage of about 11,000 but by 1558 there
  were only 26, with a tonnage of little more than
  7,000.

Mary Rose Information
 The Mary Rose was a type of warship and belonged to the
    English Tudor Navy in the time of Henry VIII.
   The ship was named after Henry VIII’s favourite sister
    Mary Tudor.
   After serving for 33 years in many wars against
    France, Scotland, and Brittany. On 19th July 1545 the Mary
    Rose sunk and after the attack of the galleys of French
    invasion fleet.
   Mary rose was rediscovered in 1971 and was fixed to the
    best of their historical knowledge in 1982 by the Mary Rose
    Trust.
   They found thousands of recovered artefacts are of
    immeasurable value.
The Design of Mary Rose
 The Mary Rose ship was originally built as a Carrack.
 This was a style which was often used for merchant
  ships of the period, in fact the famous Santa Maria
  ship of Christopher Columbus was also a carrack with
  three masts.
 The Mary Rose was a bigger four mast sailing ship.
  Each of the masts carried one large sail.
 The foresail and mainsail were square shaped and the
  sail on the rear mast was a triangular shaped sail.
 The Mary Rose warship also had high castles at the
  bow and stern.

 Weight: 700 ton
 Length: 38.5 metres
 Beam: 4.6 metres
How and Why did the Mary Rose sink?
 She was defending England against a massive French
  invasion force in 1545 when, without warning, she
  capsized and slid under the waves, taking over 400
  men with her.
 But the re – construction should us that the ship sunk
  because of the heavy weight, and it got toppled over
  due to the strong winds and tide. But to keep the
  respect of the Mary Rose people said that sunk in
  battle with the French.
