Although X is easily one of the world’s most iconic paintings, its permanent home is a
convent in Milan, Italy. And moving it would be tricky, to say the least. The painter painted
the religious work directly (and fittingly) on the dining hall wall of the Convent of Santa Maria
delle Grazie back in 1495.
Although the painting itself was beloved, the painter’s tempera-on-stone experiment was a
failure. By the early 16th century, the paint had started to flake and decay, and within 50
years, X was a ruin of its former glory. Early restoration attempts only made it worse.
Vibrations from Allied bombings during World War II further contributed to the painting's
destruction. Finally, in 1980, a 19-year restoration effort began. X was ultimately restored,
but it lost much of its original paint along the way.

The bullet time effect was originally achieved photographically by a
set of still cameras surrounding the subject.
The cameras are fired sequentially, or all at the same time, depending
on the desired effect. Single frames from each camera are then
arranged and displayed consecutively to produce an orbiting
viewpoint of an action frozen in time or as hyper-slow-motion.

The story goes that a Dublin theatre proprietor by the name of Richard Daly made a bet that
he could, within forty-eight hours, make a nonsense word known throughout the city, and
that the public would supply a meaning for it. After a performance one evening, he gave his
staff cards with the word X written on them, and told them to write the word on walls
around the city. The next day the strange word was the talk of the town, and within a short
time it had become part of the language.
The most detailed account of this supposed exploit (in F. T. Porter's Gleanings and
Reminiscences, 1875) gives its date as 1791. The word, however, was already in use by then,
meaning 'an odd or eccentric person', and had been used in this sense by Fanny Burney in
her diary entry for 24 June 1782.
What is this word which holds a special relevance tonight?

from Dawkins' 1976 book The Selfish Gene. Dawkins's own position is
somewhat ambiguous: he welcomed N. K. Humphrey's suggestion that
“X should be considered as living structures, not just metaphorically
and proposed to regard X as "physically residing in the brain"
X is an idea, behaviour, or style that spreads from person to

X was first was created in 1999 in Japan by Shigetaka Kurita. He was part of the team
working on NTT DoCoMo's i-mode mobile Internet platform. Kurita took inspiration from
weather forecasts that used symbols to show weather, Chinese characters and street signs,
and from manga.
X was initially used by the NTT DoCoMo, au, and SoftBank Mobile(formerly Vodafone).
These companies each defined their own variants of using proprietary standards. The first
set of 176 12×12 pixel was created as part of i-mode's messaging features to help facilitate
electronic communication, and to serve as a distinguishing feature from other services.
For NTT DoCoMo's i-mode, X is drawn on a 12×12 pixel grid. When transmitted, X are
specified as a two-byte sequence, in the private-use range E63E through E757 in

troublesome for many companies to keep their employees in check and maintain work
productivity. One interesting incident forced British Airways to forcibly ban the flight
attendants from engaging in this activity during flight take-offs and landings.
Till date, it has not been determined how many followers of this activity actually exist in the

As per researchers, this activity is known to have benefits such as boosting your

  • 40. Q. (Altius) Although X is easily one of the world’s most iconic paintings, its permanent home is a convent in Milan, Italy. And moving it would be tricky, to say the least. The painter painted the religious work directly (and fittingly) on the dining hall wall of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie back in 1495. Although the painting itself was beloved, the painter’s tempera-on-stone experiment was a failure. By the early 16th century, the paint had started to flake and decay, and within 50 years, X was a ruin of its former glory. Early restoration attempts only made it worse. Vibrations from Allied bombings during World War II further contributed to the painting's destruction. Finally, in 1980, a 19-year restoration effort began. X was ultimately restored, but it lost much of its original paint along the way.

The next day the strange word was the talk of the town, and within a short time it had become part of the language. The most detailed account of this supposed exploit (in F. T. Porter's Gleanings and Reminiscences, 1875) gives its date as 1791. The word, however, was already in use by then, meaning 'an odd or eccentric person', and had been used in this sense by Fanny Burney in her diary entry for 24 June 1782.
