National Stakeholders Coordination Group
1st
Meeting
28 March 2017, Brussels
Invitation
The National Stakeholder Coordination Group on
Smart Networks for the Energy Transition
The National Stakeholder Coordination Group (NSCG) is a sounding board and exchange
platform for national R&I stakeholders in the area of smart energy systems and
networks, enabling them to contribute actively and in a coordinated way to the goals as
European SET-Plan. The NSCG addresses national R&I policy makers, R&I funding program
managers, key research institutes (typically members of EERA), R&I platforms (“Technology
Platforms” or similar – typically consisting of grid operators, technology providers, R&D-
institutes) and experts from regulators. It provides a framework for exchange and coordination
among national stakeholders as well as with the working groups of ETIP SNET or other relevant
ETIPs. The group shall reflect and comment on the ETIP activities from a national
stakeholder´s perspective. The NSCG is organised by member states, supported by ERA-Net
Smart Grids Plus, additionally facilitated by the European Commission and ETIP SNET.
After the constitutional meeting in Barcelona in November 2016, stakeholders from the
above named groups are invited to a first regular meeting on 28 March 2017,
Brussels (DG Budget - Room BRE2 05/428 – Avenue d’Auderghem 19).
Please register by filling out the registration form before March 13.
As we might have to limit the number of participants due to limited meeting room
capacity, you will receive a final confirmation on March 14.
The European Technology and Innovation Platform
“Smart Networks for the Energy Transition” (ETIP SNET)
With the new Integrated SET-Plan, as presented by the European Commission in 2015, the
industry initiatives have evolved towards so called “European Technology and Innovation
Platforms” (ETIPs) in order to integrate in a single advisory environment all the stakeholders
that were involved in the former EIIs (European Industry Initiatives), the Technology Platforms
and the European Energy Re-search Alliance (EERA). Particularly the European Grids Initiative
(EEGI) together with the Technology Platform for Electricity Networks of the Future (ETP
Smart-Grids) have transformed into the European Technology and Innovation Platform Smart
Networks for the Energy Transition (ETIP SNET). During the summer 2016 the platform
became operational, gathering industry representatives on a European level from electricity,
storage and ICT but also heating, transport and gas. The mission of the platform is to guide
research, development and innovation (RD&I) activities to support Europe's energy transition.
The ETIP SNET will set-out a vision for research and innovation for smart networks, storage
and integrated systems and engage stakeholders in this vision. It will also identify innovation
barriers, notably related to regulation and financing. http://etip-snet.eu/
