Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF)
Courses/syllabus for Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYGP) shall
be prepared by incorporating following points:
 Credit system.
 Consist of Program Learning Outcome (PLO) and each course consist
course Learning Outcome (CLO).
 The UGCF shall have courses with credit as specified in the table .

National Higher Education Qualification Framework (NHEQF)

Categories of courses for study
Any discipline shall offer following categories of courses of study (Course
means subject / paper)
Discipline Specific Core (DSC) Course:
DSC is course of study which is mandatory requirement to perused by student. It
shall be the core credit course of that particular discipline.
Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) Course:
The DSEs shall be pool of credit courses which a student choose to study from
his/her particular discipline(s).
Generic Elective (GE)
GE shall be pool of courses which is meant to provide multidisciplinary or
interdisciplinary education, which a student can choose from courses offered by
various disciplines.

Ability Enhancement Course (AEC)
AEC courses are the courses intended to knowledge enhancement through
various areas of study and Language Literature and Environmental Science
and sustainable development which shall include mandatory for all
disciplines.
Skill Enhancement Course (SEC)
SEC courses are skill-based courses in all disciplines and are aimed at
providing hands-on-training, competencies, skills, etc.
Value Addition Course (VAC)
VAC courses are value based courses which are meant to inculcate ethics,
culture, constitutional values, soft skills, sports, education and such similar
values to students which will help in all round development of students.
Dissertation/Project
A course designed to acquire special/advance knowledge.

The UGCF shall have courses with credit as specified. This table shall be treated as
sample tables with 22 credits in each semester

Major Discipline
A student pursuing four-year undergraduate programme shall be awarded
Honours degree with Major in particular Discipline.
If student secures 80 credits out of total 176 credits after completion of VII
Semester in that Discipline.
He/she shall study 6 DSCs and at least 3 DSCs in that discipline in the first six
semesters and 2 DSCs and write dissertation in that discipline in the VII and
VIII semesters.
For instance, a students who pursues four-year B.A. (Honours) shall be eligible
for Major in History, on completion of VIII semester, if he/she earns minimum
80 credits from 8 DSCs and at least 9 DSEs of History and writes dissertation
on a topic related to History.

Minor Discipline
A students mentioned be awarded Minor in a discipline, on completion of VIII
Semester. if he/she earns minimum 28 credits from six DSCs and one DSE of
that discipline.
The concept of Minor is relevant only when there is a Major discipline.
For example, a student pursing four-year B.A. (Honours) with Major in History
(after securing at least 80 credits in History), may be awarded Minor in Hindi if
he/she earns 28 credits from six DSCs and one DSE of Hindi (up to VI
semester), on successful completion of VIII Semester.

Examination and Evaluation
The academic performance of a candidate shall be evaluated in respect of the
courses of study prescribed for each semester.. The evaluation of students
admitted in the program shall be based on
 End Semester Examinations- 80% marks of total marks.
 Continuous Internal Assessment- 20% of total marks.
The end semester examinations will be held as per the academic calendar
released by the University and the duration of end semester examination
(Theory and Practical) shall be of three hours.
The minimum percentage of marks to pass the program in each semester shall
be 33% in each course (including both internal and external marks) as well as
consolidated in a semester.
A program shall have a specified number of credits in each semester. The
number of credits along with grade points that the student has satisfactorily
cleared shall measure the performance of the student.

Semester examination results shall have following categories:
 Passed : Those who have passed in all courses of the semester examination.
 Promoted (ATKT): Those who have not passed in all the courses of the
semester examination but have passed n-2 courses. Where n is total number
of courses in a semester.
 Detained : Those who are not promoted as per the above provisions will be
detained. Such students have to rejoin the course of study in regular mode by
paying fee in the same semester in the next academic session subject to not
crossing maximum duration of the program as defined in this ordinance.
However, a student of the first semester who has been detained/ not appeared in
examination due to less attendance/ not applied for examination/ applied but not
appeared shall be out from the program. Such a student has to take admission in
the next session as an ex-student through the procedure adopted/notified by the
University.

Continuous Internal Assessment
Continuous Internal Assessment shall be of 20% marks of total marks allotted for the
course.
The components for continuous internal assessment for each course are a follows:

Internal assessment shall not be there for a major
project/project/dissertation/field work and shall be carried forward in case of
ATKT students. There shall not be any provision of conducting internal
assessment tests for ATKT students at any circumstances.

Promotion Rule

ATKT Examination and Promotion Rule
Semester Examination will be Conduct
ATKT in even semesters next even semester

ATKT of 5th semester along with the 6th semester (special exam)

well as 4th semester.
ATKT of 6th semester after declaration of semester results (special exam).

ATKT of 7th semester along with the 8th semester (special exam)
semester.
ATKT of 8th semester after declaration of semester results (special exam).

A student may take admission in Higher semester
 7th semester (Fourth year of UG) only after clearing all the semesters up to the 6th
semester with CGPA 7.5 or higher or equivalent percentage.
 8th semester provisionally, immediately after the 7th semester examination and will be
promoted to the 8th semester when carrying not more than two back papers in the 7th
semester.
Student May choose honors course before the commencement of the fourth year,
for which the concerned department shall ask and confirmed as per the
availability of the seats and other criteria.
In case a student fails to clear the backlog, he/she can take attempt in the next
appropriate examination as an ex-student for completion of degree up to
maximum duration allowed for the program.
*Internal marks of ex-students will be carried forward for the corresponding course.
For counting back papers both theory as well as practical courses shall be
considered.

Results Preparation
A student who has passed in all the courses of each semesters and obtained a
CGPA of at least 3.3 shall be declared as 'Passed’. The division shall be awarded
according to the following criteria:

> 7.50 First Division with distinction
> 6.00, but < 7.50 First Division
> 4.5 but <6.00 Second Division
> 3.3 but <4.5 Third Division
3.3 Pass
The Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average
(CGPA) can be calculated as per the formulae
SGPA = Ʃ(Ci x Gi) / Ʃci CGPA = Ʃ(Ci x Si) / Ʃ Ci
Where, Ci is the number of credits of
the ith course and Gi is the grade point
scored by the students in the ith
course.
Where, Si is the SGPA of the ith
semester and Ci is the total
number of credits in that semester.
Corresponding percentage (P) of marks : P = 10 x CGPA.

Format of Transcript/ Mark sheet
Based on the letter grades for corresponding percentage of marks are as follows

University shall issue the transcript or mark sheet for each semester and a consolidated
transcript indicating the performance in all the semesters.

General Rules
 There shall not be any provision for repeat or improvement of the program,
once student has cleared it.
 There shall not be any provision of revaluation. However, re-totaling is
permissible as per the rule.
 Exit options shall be available only at the end of even semesters and entry
options shall he available only in the beginning of odd semesters with the
prevailing syllabi.
 If the candidate appears for II semester end examination and discontinued for
III semester and wishes to take admission for IV semester in future, such
candidates shall not be allowed for IV semester. Such candidate shall again
seek admission to III semester as per University schedule. This is applicable
to other odd semesters also.
 Any points related to UGCF not covered under this ordinance shall be as
prescribed by the University through its ordinance/regulation/guidelines
from time to time.
