- 2. About Biomedical Engineering Biomedical engineering (BME) is the application of engineering principles to solve biological and medical problems for the purpose of improving health care. Biomedical engineers might research and test biomaterials suitable for a medical implant, such as an artificial ankle replacement. Biomedical engineer may work on large-scale manufacturing of a new drug.

- 5. About the Department The department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the year 2012. The students are given hands-on clinical training in the Kovai Medical Center and Hospital. Students have excellent exposure to a wide range of equipment in all the departments of hospital. Apart from the regular curriculum and clinical program the knowledge of students are enriched by special lecture series by eminent doctors from the hospital. The Department received the Best Industry Institution Collaboration Award from SEEE. The Department accredited by NBA from 2018 onwards.
