This document analyzes and compares two algorithms for data gathering in mobile sensor networks: Maximum Stability spanning tree-based data gathering (Max.Stability-DG) and Minimum Distance spanning tree-based data gathering (MST-DG). Through simulations, it finds that Max.Stability-DG results in longer network lifetime but shorter node lifetime, while MST-DG has the opposite effect of longer node lifetime but shorter network lifetime. This presents a tradeoff between maximizing individual node lifetime and overall network lifetime. The document analyzes how these metrics are impacted by factors like node mobility, transmission range, and number of static nodes.
