The study analyzes the nutritional status of the freshwater crab Maydelliathelphusa masoniana in Jammu, India, focusing on proximate composition (protein, lipid, moisture, ash) over two years. Results indicated that protein and lipid levels were lowest during spawning periods and highest during non-spawning periods, while moisture showed an inverse relationship with protein and lipid contents. The findings aim to evaluate the crab's potential as an edible species regarding seasonal variations, which may aid in future culture and harvesting strategies.
