LF_APIStrat17_Connect Your RESTful API to Hundreds of Others in Minutes (Zapi...LF_APIStrat
You may have seen the articles or blog posts claiming something outrageous like how you can connect to hundreds of other Apps and enable thousands of use cases within a few hours of development.
They’re true. In this workshop, the Left Hook team will walk you through how to connect your App to hundreds of others on Zapier’s platform in a matter of minutes. There are a few big asterisks to achieve this speed: 1) Your API needs to be RESTful using either API token or OAuth2.0; 2) You’ll need to choose only a few basic use cases; 3) You need to be comfortable in a Node.js environment; 4) You need to be comfortable using a CLI tool.
The document discusses APIs and their evolution. Some key points include:
- APIs allow businesses to expose capabilities over the internet for internal or external use through standard protocols.
- Early APIs were XML/SOAP based, while there has been a shift to more RESTful JSON/HTTP APIs.
- Successful API strategies focus on creating ecosystems, giving consumers tools/capabilities, and using technologies like OAuth2 and OpenID Connect.
- APIs, PaaS, and app development virtualize functions, deployments, and the development process respectively, enabling virtualization of an entire ecosystem.
The document provides information about the UiPath RPA platform and examples of using its recorder tool. It discusses:
1. The core components of UiPath including UiPath Studio for designing processes, UiPath Robot for automating tasks, and UiPath Orchestrator for managing processes.
2. Examples of using the UiPath recorder to automate emptying the trash folder in Gmail and emptying the recycle bin.
3. Creating a basic UiPath process that opens a browser, scrapes text from a web page, writes it to the output panel and a Notepad file.

The chatbot space has seen exponential growth in the past few years and is predicted to have an approximate growth of $3 billion by 2021. While chatbots are the current buzz and technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning are evolving at a breakneck speed, there are so many questions that are still unanswered questions about this space:
How do you build a great chatbot? How to scale your bot? What are the best frameworks used for chatbot development? How do bot builders overcome some of the challenges that come with it?
Here is a presentation by the CTO of Haptik, one of the world's largest conversational AI platform which answers most of the questions related to building a great & scalable chatbot.
This document provides an agenda and summaries for a MuleSoft Meetup event taking place in Perth. The agenda includes presentations on API Governance using MuleSoft at Western Power, MuleSoft Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and MuleSoft updates. Presenters include individuals from Capgemini, IBM, and MuleSoft. Time is allotted at the end for networking.
1. The document discusses the importance of companies dogfooding or using their own APIs internally to improve API design and catch issues.
2. It recommends that development teams should only communicate with each other through API interfaces and these interfaces should be designed from the beginning to be externalizable.
3. The document also provides tips for API design such as using versioning, consistent behavior, simplicty, standards, caching and personalized onboarding to improve APIs and user experience.
How and Why to Dogfood Your API - Kaltura Video Platform - ProgrammableWeb AP...Zohar Babin
How and Why To Dogfood Your API
While a great many API enthusiasts will tell you that achieving API utopia means re-architecting all of your applications (Web, mobile, or otherwise) on top of the same APIs that you make available to external developers, very few organizations have actually succeeded at doing what's necessary; turning their infrastructures inside out. Many organizations can't envision having the time, patience, or resources to fly a plane while the wings are being ripped-off and reinstalled. But open source video platform provider Kaltura pulled it off. As a result, Kaltura's core infrastructure -- back end servers, core applications, etc. --- rely on the same APIs that front-facing partners' applications rely on. The result was a highly flexible future-proof platform that enables customers, partners, developers and startups to rapidly extend the platform with innovative implementations that continuously push the limits of what Kaltura can do. In this presentation, Kaltura willl cover the principles of what makes a great, dogfoodable API, how to make it resilient, future-proof and yet backward compatible, and most importantly how to enable and support customers and partners looking to extend an API platform.

AI Changes Everything – Talk at Cardiff Metropolitan University, 29th April 2...Alan Dix
Talk at the final event of Data Fusion Dynamics: A Collaborative UK-Saudi Initiative in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence funded by the British Council UK-Saudi Challenge Fund 2024, Cardiff Metropolitan University, 29th April 2025
https://alandix.com/academic/talks/CMet2025-AI-Changes-Everything/
Is AI just another technology, or does it fundamentally change the way we live and think?
Every technology has a direct impact with micro-ethical consequences, some good, some bad. However more profound are the ways in which some technologies reshape the very fabric of society with macro-ethical impacts. The invention of the stirrup revolutionised mounted combat, but as a side effect gave rise to the feudal system, which still shapes politics today. The internal combustion engine offers personal freedom and creates pollution, but has also transformed the nature of urban planning and international trade. When we look at AI the micro-ethical issues, such as bias, are most obvious, but the macro-ethical challenges may be greater.
At a micro-ethical level AI has the potential to deepen social, ethnic and gender bias, issues I have warned about since the early 1990s! It is also being used increasingly on the battlefield. However, it also offers amazing opportunities in health and educations, as the recent Nobel prizes for the developers of AlphaFold illustrate. More radically, the need to encode ethics acts as a mirror to surface essential ethical problems and conflicts.
At the macro-ethical level, by the early 2000s digital technology had already begun to undermine sovereignty (e.g. gambling), market economics (through network effects and emergent monopolies), and the very meaning of money. Modern AI is the child of big data, big computation and ultimately big business, intensifying the inherent tendency of digital technology to concentrate power. AI is already unravelling the fundamentals of the social, political and economic world around us, but this is a world that needs radical reimagining to overcome the global environmental and human challenges that confront us. Our challenge is whether to let the threads fall as they may, or to use them to weave a better future.
