This project provides several creative and technical opportunities for the student. Creatively, the student can explore different designs, typography experiments, and developing multiple storyboards. Technically, the student aims to expand their skills in InDesign for layouts and manipulating text, and challenging themselves with typography effects. The skills developed will be applicable to various design careers that involve creating marketing campaigns, branding, and utilizing programs like Photoshop and InDesign. The student is most interested in the print design aspect to further improve their skills and produce high quality work.

- 1. Opportunities Every project gives you opportunities to create but also constraints to work to. Use this hand out to consider the opportunities this project has to help you improve your skills, knowledge and creativity. Opportunities What creative opportunities can you see in this project? How could you challenge yourself creatively in this project? You can refer to your previous experience here. In this project I see a lot of potential for opportunities with design. I will be able to expand on my Photoshop design experience with the production of the adverts, web banners and packaging. My work turned out well for the recipe cards project I completed previously so I am hoping the skills I attained during this project will help me produce some good work. I would like to make a number of different initial designs that are quite different to explore different looks and see which one I like the best. Typography is another area that I wish to explore more. Some designs I will try can be text based with lots of text and not much graphical elements or even exclusively text. I think the storyboard for the graphic design project where our task was to produce a graphical reputation of a legend or folk tale on Photoshop was quite good and I will be able to transfer these skills when creating a storyboard for a TV advert. I will be able to challenge myself here however, in order to get the best out of myself creatively I will write up multiple storylines before choosing the best. What technical opportunities for development are available in this project? What technical challenges could you set yourself? You can refer to your previous experience here. I think it may be useful, especially for the advert, web banner and nutritional information on the can to use InDesign to lie out the different graphical elements. I have used InDesign before but not much, so I wish to expand on my skills here and gain more experience. InDesign manages well with a lot of text so doing the nutritional information on it may be easier than doing it in Photoshop. Once finished I can import the finished nutritional information into Photoshop. Typography is an area I can really develop my technical skills, I can experiment by warping text more and trying out the different effects I can apply to get the best looking designs possible ensuring it looks just the way I want it to. How could the skills you are using and developing here be useful in a professional context? Consider the requirements for different job roles. The skills I will be developing here will be useful to many design based jobs in the professional world. Any brand launch or re-branding marketing campaign must design the four things that I am designing, a TV advert, print advert, web banner and new packaging. The use of programmes such as Photoshop and InDesign are both things that are preferred if not essential to even be considered for many jobs in the marketing and design industries. By practicing using these programmes I am becoming more and more competent and familiar with them and so will find using them in a professional context much easier. What opportunities for designing for different media does this project give you? Which final product type interests you the most and why? This project gives the opportunity to design something for television, print and a can design. I really enjoyed the design work I did for the recipe cards project, I felt as though the results I was getting were very good and I believe I am capable of developing this design skill more and am capable of producing even better work. Because of this I would say I am probably looking forward to this part of the project the most. I think the web banner will also be good, especially if I can develop it so that some parts of the banner are animated.
