Oracle Fusion HCM provides four predefined tree structures - department trees, organization trees, position trees, and geography trees - to represent hierarchical organizational data. Department trees are mostly used for security and messaging, with departments as nodes. Organization trees can be automatically set up or custom built. Position trees establish reporting relationships. Geography trees specify locations for events. The document provides instructions for creating and structuring a department tree in Oracle Fusion.

- 1. What are Oracle Fusion Trees A tree in fusion is a graphical representations of hierarchical data such as the structure of your organization. Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management (HCM) provides four different predefined tree structures. These trees can also be used to handle securities within your enterprise. Below are the four tree structures available in fusion HCM Department Trees Department trees are mostly used to secure data using security profile. This can also be used to create custom gallery messages to appear in the portraits of workers assigned to departments within a department tree. Using the predefined tree structure for a department tree, we can create multiple department trees and then create multiple versions of each tree to build hierarchical representations of the departments within our organization. Note the following: The top “node “of the tree is a department, and all of the child nodes are also departments. You can have only one top-level node for a department tree. You can’t add a department as a node more than one time in the same tree version. Task Name : Manage Department Trees Organization Trees If you use the Oracle Fusion Enterprise Structures Configurator to set up your enterprise structure, a default organization tree is created automatically for you, with the following:
- 2. Ultimate holding company as the first node “Divisions” and “country holding companies” as the second level “Legal employers”as the third level. However, If you do not use the Enterprise Structures Configurator (ESC), you can still create organization trees based on the predefined organization tree structure. In an organization tree, you can select any type of organization for the top node and for the child nodes, but have only one top-level node. Organization tree can also be used to secure HCM data Task Name : Manage Organization Trees Position Trees Similar to above you can create a position tree using predefined position tree structure. You can create multiple position trees and then create multiple versions of each tree to establish reporting relationships among positions. You can have only one top-level node for a position tree. Position trees can be used for following purposes: Review position hierarchies for budgeting and organizational planning. Secure access to positions by identifying a position hierarchy in a position security profile. You can also include the position security profile in a person security profile to secure access to person records. Task Name : Manage Position Trees Geography Trees Using the predefined geography tree structure, you create a version to represent the countries in which your enterprise operates. For each country, you can define lower-level nodes such as states, and cities. For example

Search for the task “Manage Department Trees” Navigation : Navigator » Tools » Setup and Maintenance » All Tasks Tab » Search for task name Manage Department Trees To create a document tree, search for the task Manage Department Trees and click on Go to Task, which will open Manage Department Trees page. Under Search Result section click on the Create icon and enter the details as follow. Once you enter the details click on next until you get the option to submit it. At last click on Submit button.

Add nodes under the department tree Navigation : Navigator » Tools » Setup and Maintenance » All Tasks Tab » Search for task name Manage Department Trees » Search for the department Tree you created before Once you click on the submit button you will see your tree in the search result section. Select your tree and click on create icon to select value “Create Tree Version” Once you click on the “Create Tree Version” you will see following page. Give your version a name and effective start date. Once done click on NEXT. Note : Effective date should be early enough that it will encompass your longest serving employee
- 5. In the next screen you will have option to add departments (nodes). Click on Add (+) icon and add your departments to give a hierarchical structure. Once done click on Submit. And you are done.
