Editor's Notes

  • #6: PLAY TICKETS ON SALE VIDEO HERE (TOO BIG TO MISS) –
  • #10: 9
  • #15: The Olympics helped us move up the The Nation Brands Index, from 10th position to 9th The games made 60% of the population feel more proud to be British, and 20% plan to take more breaks in England as a result of the feel good factor. The RWC is arguably an even bigger opportunity! It takes in more locations around the country so there are more chances to showcase more of the country Compared to NZ 2011 - we can offer wine (and beer) tasting and if not whale-watching as in NZ, then at least seal-spotting
  • #17: VisitEngland is in regular contact with all the agents – supplying imagery, content and ideas and information to offer to their clients. At least 110,000 packages will be sold
  • #24: As with the Olympics in 2012 will be arranging a full programme of excursions and options, encouraging media to explore all parts of England. We expect at least 1500-2000 accredited media and 1000 broadcasters
  • #25: We are really keen to gather as much editorial content and story ideas as possible – it is not just about the tournament but everything else that is going on at the same time – and creating that nation-wide “buzz”! Invented football, cricket, tennis and ping pong As well as the Marriott in Twickenham, there’s the Old Trafford Lodge overlooking Old Trafford Cricket Ground; the Hilton at St George’s Park, the FA’s National Football Centre; and the Holiday Inn Stratford with views over the QE Olympic Park Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, National Football Museum (Manchester), River & Rowing Museum (Henley) Josh Lewsey’s Fish n Chip shop in Devon; Ryan Gigg’s café Football in London 2015 also sees: the opening of Dreamland in Margate, considered the world’s first amusement park, a new Bond movie, the opening of a new Shakespeare theatre in Shoreditch, the 50th anniversary of Sir Winston churchill’s death and 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta
  • #26: Launching next year – not disssimilar to our successful Fan In A Van campaign in 2012 (Rachel Kershaw from North East followed the route of the torch relay). VE also in discussion with Emirates (who of course fly into Newcastle) on supporting their sponsorship but more importantly raising awareness of their regional entry points
