People with O-negative blood are universal donors. That is, any patient can recieve tansfusion of
O-negative blood. Only 7.2% of the American population have O-negative blood. If 10 people
appear at random to give blood, what is the probablity that at least 1 of them is universal donor?
Solution
10C0 * .072^ 0 * .928^10 = 0.473674235 This is the probability that NONE of
them are the universal donor. It turns out, the event we are interested in, is just the compliment.
Then 1 - 0.473674235 = 0.526325765 Hence, 53% probability.
