Source: goodcarbon team We are developing the Great Green Wall to sequester >2m tonnes of CO2 and retore 10,000 hectares of land goodcarbon Originals Project The Great Green Wall of Gujarat is a community led and managed project which aims at building a Bio Shield along 1,000 km (out of 1,600km) long coastline of the Gujarat State by restoring mangroves. Along with Climate and Biodiversity benefits this project addresses three Major problems faced by the Gujarat Coastline: 1) Soil Erosion & resulting costal instability 2) Sea Water Intrusion 3) Providing livelihood opportunities to isolated marginalized communities (mostly Tribals) The Project is being developed by an NGO which has 45 years of experience in rural development activities and has restored 2300ha of Mangroves till date - they work on the issues of environment and ecology development linked with poverty alleviation and livelihood enhancement of marginalized communities.
